Although I highly admire the work of Ray Harryhausen, "Clash of the Titans" is one of the weakest of his efforts. It doesn't hold a candle to his classic "Jason and the Argonauts." I hope Sony will do a full restoration of that classic.

No, not a "classic". Its hammy, campy, b-movie fun ans thats about it. Plus, most of us saw it 20+ years ago so theres a *slight* chance the "special" effects will in fact be "special"....as in make you laugh outloud.

Stop motion looks awful. Everytime. That doesnt make the movie bad, but lets not avoid the facts and prop this up too much. Big fans of the film can and should buy it. Others had better temper your expectations. Rent first. Dont even think about blind buying it.

I love this film. Watched my DVD just a few months ago. I'll gladly pick this up on Blu when it comes out.

(not sure about the remake, I have a gut feeling it won't be very good)

Default Great news!

I loved this movie as a kid-glad to see it on Blu Ray. Probably will not go see the new one-I try to avoid anything in 3-D!

I would say be careful with this one. I just rewatched my DVD and it looks pretty great and just grainy enough to keep it within the realm of beliveable. I watched an old War film from the 50's on Blu ray and it was so clear that there were a few shots that took you right out of the film because it looked sooooo fake and obvious it was on a sound stage with a fake back drop or rear projection. I fear this will happen with this film. Its not like it looks so realistic on standard, its really gonna look fake on Blu.

I haven't really been bothered by that sort of thing but I have friends that would agree (i.e. high defintion tends to make the fake stuff stand out way too much).

Seems a bit harsh, to me. As with anything YMMV, but having loved the film as a child and watched it many times since on basic cable, I think it holds up for what it is and when it was made. Personally, I'm much more worried about the re-make...

It does, but doesn't matter to me much. When you are being fair and you look at the 50's and 60's movies when they are driving, even back then it was so obivious that they are not really driving One of the worst fake/cinema driver of all time Sean Connery in the James Bond movies

I'd like to know that was well. It's not listed on the blu-ray region code site, probably because it hasn't been released yet, but hopefully we'll get confirmation on that soon.

They don't make me laugh out loud. I consider when these films were originally made. It took lots of time and effort to make stop motion and Harryhaussen was the master, bar none. Does it look quaint compared to CGI?...well yes but at the time audiences, even me, marveled at it. How many of you still watch the tv stop motion grandaddy of all time: Rudolph Ther Red Nosed Reindeer? Do you laugh at that? Probably not.
It's still like when I see older movies and some of those spectacular stunts. Back in the day they were actually done, they just blow me away. Today most are now CGI.
