Bad Teacher Review Thread (Use Spoiler Tags)

Jason Segel and John Michael Higgins are in talks to co-star in Jake Kasdan’s Bad Teacher. The comedy stars Cameron Diaz as Elizabeth Halsey, a foul-mouthed, conniving seventh-grade teacher who is dumped by her sugar daddy, and begins to woo the school’s model teacher, and starts a bitter rivalry with his girlfriend, her squeaky-clean colleague Amy Squirrel (played by Lucy Punch).

Segel will play the gym teacher, Higgins plays the principal Wally Snur, while the model teacher role remains uncast. Segel had previously be rumored to be in the running for the film, competing with Bradley Cooper for the role. It might be possible that they were after Cooper for that role? The screenplay charted on the 2008 Blacklist and was penned by Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg, who also wrote Year One and penned Ghostbusters 3. Kasdan’s directorial credits include Zero Effect, Orange County, The TV Set and the Judd Apatow-produced Walk Hard.

I think Segel is hilarious - This sounds pretty funny with him in that role.

He's the writer for the upcoming film. It's being worked on

As for this, I thought Jason was the LEAD. As talented as Cameron is, when she plays roles like this she only comes off annoying. I rather have a lead male teacher with issues rather than some dumb female teacher looking for love. It was already done as Happy Go Lucky.

When I read this title this is what I assumed the movie would be about.

Troubled teacher always getting into problems but teacher look to him as a role model when he's an ******* with Jason Segal being that teacher. It would have been a comedy. The fact the synopsis uses the word sugar daddy just makes me feel like this is crap.

Yeah I know what you mean, cause Segel and Higgins are great, nobody steals a scene like Higgins, so I get the feeling that's all he will do here too, just pop up every once in a while to save a drowning ship, cause it stars Diaz and a sugar daddy................jesus that is just awful to type......

We also get a first look today of Bad Teacher a comedy where Cameron Diaz plays a foul-mouthed gold digging teacher who is a questionable role model to her 7th grade students. Justin Timberlake plays a substitute teacher who is heir to a watch making business whose Diaz’s character sets her sights on. Director Jake Kasdan (Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story) told Entertainment Weekly that Diaz did not hesitate to sign up for the part after hearing her former partner Timberlake had auditioned. Kasdan said America’s former sweetheats were “Good friends, and are both incredibly funny people… it’s easy for them to be funny together. You know where the jokes are.” Bad Teacher is slated to hit theaters later this year.

I just can't see Segel as a gym teacher but I imagine he'll surprise me and do well in the role.

Damn. When I read the thread title, I also assumed Segel would be the lead. Can't stand Cameron Diaz. Movie looks terrible (though some comedy films just don't come across right in the trailers). Although Segel calling the kid Twilight was great.

This movie looks really funny. It's directed by Jake Kasdan who did a bunch of episodes of Freaks and Geeks. I just hope it's better than Walk Hard and Orange County.

This is the fourth Cameron Diaz movie I've ever looked forward to seeing. The first was The Mask. The second was There's Something About Mary. And the third was Being John Malchovich.

Were Diaz and Timberlake together when they filmed this movie?
