I saw a crude screen capture of this on Engadget or Gizmodo (can't remember which); it looked like there was a 360 in one of the shots.

So what!!!!

really has it gotten to the point they can not just have a prop in a movie with out it just being a prop, but 'it' has to be a statement of some kind.

would you be talking about this if it was a nintendo 64....no

Product placement in films of this kind is normally paid. Yes, even the brief appearances.

I don't think it has anything to do with Michael Bay or HD-DVD or N64 etc etc.

This was just posted at AVS Forum by AVS Notice

Quote:
PLEASE TAKE NOTE:

AVS Forum as a company is NEUTRAL on the issue of the format war. We work closely with both format providers. (Side note...Both camps were sponsors and guests and the CEDIA AVS Forum party.)

Seeing this was an offer was not extended to any other site other than AVS and Blu-ray.com, someone seems to not understand the above. The offer did not ask for forum members, they asked for a representative from this site to take part in an e-mail that was sent. AVS will not take part, as we can not, and they were informed about this.

BE IT KNOWN...Anyone who enters into this debate IS NOT REPRESENTING AVS FORUM. You may be a member here, as on other various sites, but please do not speak for this site. This includes the mods.

All we can see come from this is just more attacks between members and this has already started to happen.

With this said, we will now close this thread and threads on the same debate subject. Lets face it, we already have enough debate on the formats as it is. Now lets go watch a movie.

Thank you all.

Why would I want to watch a movie with them? They would probably do some unfavorable thing to me, like put in an HD DVD.

It's probably yet another bot/team login account that they use to hide behind. Bloody cowards.

lol, why do they need to get prepared. They repeat the same talking points every day. "Profile 1.1". "Good enough", J6P doesn't care", blu-boy, smurf, hydra, etc...

Whatever it was, Nelson should have put some cheese in it. Maybe that would have attracted an HD-DVD volunteer.

one of two things: -

a) they're an independent forum, whose controls/moderation have wilted under a sustained red attack.

b) they're a sponsored hd-dvd site trying desperately to backtrack

either way, they?re credibility has been undermined, perhaps terminally.

to my mind, the tipping point came with paidgeeks treatment in the insider?s thread .

i ask you, how many forums would allow such misdirection/misrepresentation over the contributions from the only major studio who could be bothered to post.

chickens coming home to roost, as we say in the uk

They're splitting hairs to try to look like they have the moral high ground.

They still need to explain why they banned Nelson. Of course, we all know why

Either way, I look forward to whupping in a dignified and logical manner whoever comes forward, from wherever they hail

Wicky, any dates or times confirmed for the show down? I'm sure the potential of your worldwide, virtual cheering section is enormous.

I just wanted to give a quick 'congrats' to WickyWoo and Josh! I'm sure you'll take care of any 'contenders' from the Red. Looking at the related Poll, I see that I got a few votes. I want to extend my thanks for your support, especially considering that I haven't been a regular here.

I'll look forward to the debate... errr... that is: if there is anyone to debate.

Considering the hardcore reply to Nelson from AVS Forum, maybe he should look for candidates from forum.hd-dvd.com? (I don't think they could claim to be neutral, could they?) To be honest, if AVS Forum is 'neutral', I really don't understand their reaction to Nelson's invite. I mean, wouldn't the members be debating as "persons", not representatives of the site? --For example, if you had chosen me for the debate, I would have been "damonous, representing Blu-ray" (who happens to post on HDD) not "damonous, representing High Def Digest on behalf of Blu-ray".

(I must really investigate this AVS Forum more closely myself sometime, since I do have an ID there. It appears to be in desperate need of some reality-infusion posts. )

There is a scene towards the end where a guy holding an XBox 360 box is caught by the energy from the cube device which transformed the X360 in to an evil transformer thing starts trying to come out of the box. Ergo the X360 is evil and will kill you if it gets a chance.

Either there will not be a debate or the HD-DVDer will be someone without a reputation. That way the HD-DVDers can claim it wasn't fair.

I respect anyone on that list. Wicky will give them hell. But make sure that the HD-DVD community backs their person. Otherwise it'll be as bad as Reagan vs. Mondale. "Well, there you go again..."

I can see how the invite was taken to mean a person representing the AVSForum, given that even the first post in this thread says:
Quote:
The debate will be moderated by me and will be amongst one person representing this forum and one person representing the AVS forum.
I hadn't caught that before.

Could have fooled me. There has been NOTHING neutral about AVS for over a year now when it comes to the format war.

The hypocrisy !
Hello ???????????????????????????

1. Why have all the Blu-ray insiders stopped posting on the AVS Insider’s Thread ?

2. Why do independent neutral producers feel compelled to make statements like this….
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showp...&postcount=344

3. Why was Amir (who is the acknowledged poster boy for spreading FUD about the Blu-ray format) allowed to speak on behalf of AVS at the last CEDIA ?

4. Why have so many Blu-ray supporters that were AVS forum members left that forum en masse if they are truly a "neutral" forum ?

5. Why does an AVS moderator make a statement from the heart like this about how *sad he was* that Target was going to double the shelf space to Blu ray next month.
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=920658

And then later..... give it the old MicroSpin after he read what we had posted about his candidness here on our forum.....realizing that it wasn't too smart for him to come out of the pro-HD DVD moderator closet so openly.
