Default Paranormal Activity causing Havoc in Italy.

Hey,

Don't know if its that serious to begin with. I have seen the movie and thought it was good (funny at parts) but is it really that serious to cause paralysis and panic attacks.

Now I know about epilepsy, and thought that its mostly rare but not up to this point.

Matter have gotten so complicated that at some point banning the film was an option but not anymore.

Anyways here is what's going on in Italy:

Quote:
While we are all sick and tired of hearing about "Paranormal Activity" in the US, the film just hit theaters in Italy. And the country's emergency response services have since been overwhelmed with calls of panic attacks.

According to the ANSA news agency, there were "panic attacks lasting more than half an hour. The more serious case is that of a 14-year-old girl who was brought to the hospital in a state of paralysis."

Alessandra Mussolini, granddaughter of the Italian fascist dictator and head of a parliamentary committee on children, said "Paranormal Activity" had "highly distressing content" and was causing "panic attacks and psychological problems among youths."

"I don't think we can ban 'Paranormal Activity' now, but surely we need to study how to warn parents of the risks their children are incurring," Mussolini said.

The Italian parents' association noted that admission to the movie is restricted in the United States, Britain, Germany and The Netherlands and asked for an age limit of 18 in Italy.
What do you guys think?.

I think people are pansies if anything in that article is true.

The article is true. But it does bring up a point, do people see things differently depending on where they are from?

I thought the movie was pretty good right up to the end, which seemed beyond silly. It seemed very home movie like.

I liked that about it and I liked the girl's "performance". As Ebert said it didn't seem like acting, you really believe she's a haunted college girl struggling for her sanity and her boyfriend's protection/understanding.

Well Ebert was right in a sense.

I just don't get how this movie managed to cause such a fiasco in Italy.

Are they letting 5 year olds in to watch this? It had some good jump scares (if you're susceptible to those) but nothing to do all that.

Honestly, guys I would to see a positive/knowledgeable discussion about this.
like:

In terms of what makes people tick in Italy Vs. US?

Impact of the movie on a global scale, What kind of audiences does it attract?

Impact of the movie in terms of age (like the poor 14 years old who suffered paralysis).

Any insights on this?.

Lets have an intelligent discussion.

I'm 27 and the movie freaked me out I don't even believe in ghosts if I was a 14 year old that believed in that stuff I can see how she would freak out but to the point of being paralyzed is a little intense. I wish a movie could scare me to that point
