Default 28 WEEKS later PQ question

So I was watching 28 weeks later, and just had a question about the beginning of the film. When it's darker and they are in the house, it's very grainy. Now is this considered noise, or just the film grain? What is this classified as?

It is just the way it was shot. 28 weeks later used may different types of film stock and cameras. This is why some shots are crystal clear and others grainy. Its completely the affect the filmmaker was aiming for.

I am completely convinsed now that apprx 95% of the time on seeing any grain to any degree on BD is is exactly what is on the print for theatrical release.

It's the way they wanted it to look. Take Crank for example. The entire movie looked great cause it was filmed with HD cameras. There was one scene where Jason Statham was walking towards the Camera and they decided to shoot that scene with film, so they could get a grain look to it.

if you watch some of the special features the director wanted it to seem like the camera was infected when the infected were around.
