Question Blockbuster Online

I know I read Blockbuster wasn't doing the 4 week delay like Netflix but Where the Wild Things Are is showing availability unknown and the customer service just told me they are having trouble getting copies from the studio. Anyone heard any word on Blockbuster maybe doing the 4 week delay too now?

While I'm on the subject Sorority Row says unavailable there too. I know that one isn't Warner so different story there. It's Summit. Having noticed a delay with theirs before so I will just chalk that one up to whatever.

Yeah in store doesn't have the blu-ray version either. But since they have the dvd version available it makes me think that they are just having trouble acquiring the blu-rays for some reason. (although I see both are unavailable online so who knows. maybe warner is just forcing them to hold out )

netflix shows an avalible date of 3/30, and i had gone to my local movie gallery early tuesday morning and they had exactly 1 copy on blu ray, and only about 10 on dvd.

i actually had to wait until later in the day to get it because someone forgot to check it into inventory.

blockbuster online is starting to get shady... I return all my mailings to the store so they can check them in same day... I still have to wait 3 days sometimes before they mail me my new ones... I am really close to cancelling my membership with them. that, and about 1 in 4 of all movies I receive from them are damaged and unplayable. so I have to submit a report and wait a couple more days for a new copy. The $22.00 I pay a month on the service is starting to feel a little steep.

I've had very little problems with them so far. I've had maybe two unplayable discs in the last year and they usually get me a new movie out the same day I get one back. Maybe they are having shipping issues in your area? I think the worst thing to do is cancel, if Netflix gets 100% contol of the mail-in rental market, they are going to continue hiking the prices up...

I don't rent as much as I did before. Now, I just watch one new release rental per week. Sometimes you can't trust Blockbuster online. They'll send you something else rather than the new release thats been at the top of your queue for weeks or months.

I dont think that would happen... they already raised their price and have no reason to justify it really...they would see tons of customers drop from their service

But where would they go if blockbuster has gone under? I hate going to the movie store, the mail is much more convienient.

As for them sending me something other than what's been at the top of my queue, Netflix constantly did that to me as well. I really see very little difference between these two providers other than the cost. Both of them have distribution centers in Richmond, which is where I'm located so the delivery times are pretty similar as well.

I cancelled my subscription with them and here's why:

1-I recieved not once but 4 times cracked blu's in the mail! I make a complaint and have them send me another movie title and that to comes in the mail cracked or broken in half!!!!! I emailed them and said they should check the movies out before they leave the shipping facitlity and they tell me they dont have the time! WTF????? And 2:

The wait times for a movie are way to long. I can buy the Blu ray and have it in my collection for a month and still BB Online still says "Very long wait". Heck with that.

And whats the deal with the movie Sorority Row? I went to get on BB Online and they have it listed as unavalible? I go to the BB store and they only have one copy of it on dvd and not Blu ray? I dont know if thats BB fault or not but something aint right there.

But that all being said I cancelled my membership. I will spend my money some place else.

Well now WTWTA is in the numbered part of the queue section but it says unavailable now (both Blu and DVD). Sorority Row however still says Unavailable for Blu but if you switch it to DVD it now says Long Wait. So they got that in regular DVD now.

I am happy to report that I am happy with Blockbuster Online.

No long waits for movies to arrive, one cracked movie that Blockbuster cannot control after it leaves there premises, and in store exchanges. What's not to be happy with other than it is cool to hate Blockbuster?

I'm not 100% happy with BB Online, but I still prefer them over Netflix.

I couldn't wait for the long BB queue time, so I used one of my mailer in store exchanges and was able to rent WTWTA. However, is a created rental copy and not the retail disc. it appears it is a BD25 and not the BD50 that is listed in the review. The disc has no special features. I wonder if they just removed the special features to save space and money, or if they also altered the movie quality as well to fit it to a cheaper disc. Anyone else notice this, or does anyone have access to compare the quality of the two versions. Or was it just my store and no one else has this issue/question. I hope this is not a sign of things to come from BB - to strip or reduce the quality of the newer titles.
