This is kind of off topic but,
I was wondering about 3D and 3D Imax
Cuz i Saw Alice In Wonderland in 3D and Nothing pops out at you.
I have seen 4 Movies in 3D including Avatar and nothing poped out at me.
Now I have never seen a movie in 3d Imax so i was wonder do things pop out at you?
Cuz normal 3D is like watching a movie normal it seems no different at all.
So should have i seen Avatar and Alice In Wonderland in 3D Imax?
The Main Thing is i want stuff jumping and poping at me. Does 3D Imax Do That?

How can you say that when you didn't see it in 3D? However, I don't think 3D was really needed for some of the reasons you mentioned. While the visuals were very good.. they were also lacking the depth and detail for a Tim Burton movie.

Saw it last night in 3D IMAX..it was good..nothing great. The cat was the best part..I guess that's not saying much lol. Johnny Depp has become a parody of himself. Voice acting was quite good.

Er, no, not when you computer-convert a flat-shot movie (as with Nightmare Before Christmas):

It's basically separating planes of depth for the various objects, giving us View-Master style depths of "stage flats"...
In one early scene, there's a tree in the Victorian garden, and for some odd reason, the tree AND the light between its leaves are both sticking out from the background.

I think Depp is considered more about entertaining his kids these days. He's done enough to garner respect from everyone but he still hasn't won an Academy Award so I think he should be making a stronger effort. None of his dramas coming out really market anything serious. He's play an innocent tourist thrown in the world of CIA with Angelina Jolie (it sounds too similar to his role in Nick of Time) and he's doing a comedy movie with his wife. Doesn't seem like he wants to try anymore.

Maybe it has something to do with where you sit? Anyway, I saw it in IMAX 3D and they were deff coming off of the screen. Sometimes the people looked like they were in the room. As for things flying out, when she falls down the hole it looked like she was spinning and falling in the theater above the audience. I sat in the last row. And there were various things coming out as well as the cat. I loved it.

It sure didnt look like the way you described it lol
Too tell you the truth nothing looked 3D it looked normal.
Now I know if I see a movie in 3D, IMAX is the way to go.
I Guess Ill Watch Clash Of The Titans in IMAX and Not Normal 3D
Thanks Man for telling me how IMAX was for this movie

We went to see this today (not in 3D) and we absolutely loved it. Johnny Depp was amazing as the Mad Hatter. Overall I though the entire cast was very strong. IMO the only thing somewhat flawed was the makeup for the White Queen. Still we thought it ws an amazing movie and will be picking it up on release day.

I should also point out that I've never read the books.

Gave it 3 stars, it was at times quite dazzling to look at and had some memorably comic performances, but it just didn't work the way I had hoped. Not the best 3D I've seen either, some scenes come out noticeably fuzzy. It's worth checking out once, but don't expect to love it and you shouldn't be too disappointed. Not quite top shelf Tim Burton.

I thought the 3D was ok, but Avatar 3D was better, imo. I thought

Well not every 3D is Avatar. Avatar was made to use that film. Alice wasn't. IT was Avatar's success or hype that pushed for the 3d.

Anyway, I'm saddened he's a mere cameo. I wouldn't say it's a spoiler, he's obviously in most Burton films and was cut out of Sweeney Todd for some bizarre reason. Hopefully Alan Rickman's caterpillar has at least more than 5 minutes of screen time.

He does, but not too much more, though--

And the only reason Chr(cameo) seemed to be in the movie at all only reflected back on some of the complaints from those who were annoyed that Johnny and Helena were back in a Burton movie again:
Ie. that Tim's pretty much given up on disciplined filmmaking, and just wants to kick back with his repertory of buddy actors regardless of the project...As noted by Alan Rickman now getting his membership card in the Tim Burton Fraternal Goofy Home-Movie and Chowder Society after his role in "Sweeney Todd", which he deserves better, having been actually well cast in that one.
(I mean, the only reason Chr(cameo) is in the TBGFH&CS at all was because Tim had wanted to make "Sleepy Hollow" a Hammer homage, and if it hadn't been for that, we probably wouldn't have had LOTR or Attack of the Clones to begin with.)

But with all the other, um....liberties, by the time the Jabberwock (who technically DOESN'T EVEN APPEAR in "Looking Glass") can not only speak, but also challenges Alice of Arc at the proper plot point, at that point we're basically thinking "Yyy....yeahh, okay, Timbo, what-the-hell-ever--Let's just go with it; at this point, we're so far off the roadmap it doesn't even matter anymore. "

I also don't see why people are hating on this movie must just be Burton + Depp haters. It was rather good.

I saw a review where the person was complaining that Depp kept losing his Scottish accent but it's obvious in the film that is intentional. I've seen every film Depp has made and he doesn't drop character or accents ever unless that is the way it's written. The Elijah Wood comparisons are off the mark too he doesn't look anything like him to me. Not to mention as decent of an actor as he is, he couldn't of pulled off the role as well as Depp did.

The worst part of the film was probably too much of Helena as the Red Queen not that she was awful just it was a little too over the top and the smaller characters were done so much better. I would of liked more of the Cheshire Cat, Catepillar & White Queen.

I gave the movie 4/5 stars. I had a pretty good idea going in that I would like the movie because I'm a Burton fan, but I was surprised that my wife also enjoyed it since she usually doesn't care for Burton's stuff. I thought the 3D was effective although not at the level of Avatar. I've read many post criticizing the cgi in the film, but I never found it distracting. Any lack of realism in the cgi creatures was intentional in my opinion. If you are hoping for a story that closely resembles the books or the original animated movie you will probably have some disappointment, but if you judge the story on its own and don't spend to much time comparing it to the originals I think most people would like it. I felt the acting and voice acting were strong and thought Depp as the Hatter was really good. I would definitely recommend the movie and will pick it up when its released on blu ray.

Thats the beauty of it. Many different takes on this film. I saw it earlier today unfortunately and like I figured goin in, it was ok at best. The best part to me was the Red Queen actually. She was funny and she stood out in my eyes. Never cared for Depp much especially in these kind of roles and while he wasnt bad he wasnt nuthin special either.

The film was rather boring for the most part. It had a few moments were I was sorta into it but not much. The cat & the caterpillar were decent characters in the film. I think the story couldve been much better and it was kinda bland and shallow. I know its an animated film but still. Up was 10 times better but then again Up is up for best picture. All in all I knew this film wouldnt be that good and I was pretty much on point after viewing the film. I give it 2.5/5 Got Em!!

Well, frankly I loved the movie, overall it delivered and it lived up to my expectations all the way.

I wasn't disappointed in the 3-D because I wasn't expecting much - I had read beforehand that Burton deliberately chose not to film with 3-D cameras, that he didn't feel the extra time and expense were worth it, and he was OK with the movie being "converted" to 3-D after it was filmed.

So I wouldn't recommend that people watch it in 3-D, unless they really want to. Seems a waste of money if you don't care much for it (extra $$ for the glasses).

Burton is so much more to my liking that overall, this was a much better theatrical experience for me than Avatar, even though that movie had better 3-D.

I heard the score and even though I like it a lot, it's just so Tim Burtony. They have like the same sound every collaboration.
