A few years ago, before I found blu-ray.com and if someone was to come up to me and tell me I would have the things I have. I either would have called them a liar or thought someone gave this stuff to me. I’m a pretty cheap guy with my money.

My 65" HDTV came to be at a fantastic price and I couldn't pass that deal up. I knew I wanted an PS3 for the bluray player, because of the PQ, but I didn't know the full potential of it at the time. I knew a PS3 was the cheap way to enter the bluray HD world.

A little later I know I would want/need surrounds sound, so I bought an $98 refurb RCA 5.1 surround set from microcenter. The RCA ended up not being powerful/loud enough, so I bought another HTiB Panasonic for less then $200. I put the RCA in my bedroom, and that started the upgrades for both areas(bedroom and theater room).

I still have both HTiB and they do have a nice sound to them, except not an HD sound.

Before I found this site, I was totally happy with my Panasonic and thrilled at the price I paid.

When I started reading all this information concerning better sound, I got really curious and what I consider losing my mind bought an Klipsch 7.1, two Klipsch sub 12's and an Onkyo 805.

I thought I had a momentary madness of spending money, but I have recently realized that I am hooked on this hobby.

Replacing everything that was stolen from me with the next level up in component’s has showed me that I have a problem..... lol

It all started with that darn 65”, PS3 and bluray.com

I really miss it.LOL,,
I bought mine in 1978, the system with the 53 watt per channel receiver and the bookshelf 3-way speakers. I also had a JVC Quartz-lock turntable with a Shure V cartridge and added a Sanyo cassette deck with Super-D compander (similar to dBX), and I was in hog heaven. Then my father in law bought the top-of-the-line MCS system a year later, and I couldn't let him outdo me - the madness started. I can't remember all of the upgrades; speaker-wise I upgraded to JBL-L150's, Acoustat 2MH electrostatics (with the dual subs and Harman transformer upgrade), and for a short period of time I had a pair of Infinity Reference Standard I's that I tri-amped. I've had a Technics SA-818 receiver (330 watts per channel), a Carver C-1 Sonic Holography pre-amp and M1.5T Amp that could put out 1500 watts per channel over short periods of time; I blew out some of the drivers on the IRS and shut down our 200 amp breaker panel with it. I finally was satisfied with the sound that I currently have with the system in my HT photos, but then video started taking off. Mitsubishi 40" TV in pecan cabinet (beautiful), Mitsu 50", Mitsu 65" HD in 2001, and finally the 70" XBR2 (soon too be replaced by the 72" Vizio LED if it's any good) - I like a big picture. On and on, on and on, .... It's only money (sigh).

Than i decided i wanted to have some better sounds so i bought a sony htct-100 soundbar.. now i have 46" samsung led/lcd and a component speaker setup with a 55" samsung led on its way

I'm definately in that boat. I bought my first real home entertainment system about three years ago and aside from my nice 42 inch Sharp Aquos HDTV I opted for low-end sudio components, not knowing the difference.

This year I started replacing my cheapo studd with higher end stuff. Already spent $1350 this year on my setup and have about $1800 left to spend. Thankfully I have less that 1 year till my car is paid off. That will give me an extra $400/month.

I just bought my 1st "real" HT this year. I initially only wanted to spend around $1500 total but that was surpassed with just my front towers and receiver. I'm currently over $2,500 and i'm only at a 5.0 sound system

I've never lied to myself. I knew it wouldn't be cheap.

My wife now understands and puts up with the expenses. Besides, she knows better since she has her hobbies, too.

Sean,

That MA line is pretty much bottom of the barrel. I wouldn't use them for much more than what Rhett is, or a rear (7.1) surround. I am sure they leave a lot to be desired.
