India/Bollywood Maniratnam Movies

Hello Bollywood Blu-ray!!! Have you guys ever had a conversation with Ayangaran on releasing Maniratnam movies (Madras Talkies) - Agni Natchatiram, Bombay, Roja, Yuva etc. There are also other quality movies like Kaaka Kaaka, Baasha, Arunachalam, Varanam Aayiram. I guess you guys should push Ayangaran to release quality movies on BD rather than the flops like Villu. Villu did not deserve a BD treatment - at least in my opinion.

I think that would be fantastic, but I'd have to agree with Ayngaran's approach as they are trying to gain audience. Villu may have been a flop movie but it had a huge range of potential audience. We will proably see current releases for the near future. It might take a while before we see classics come out as i've read in this forum, it takes alot of work and is not as easy to do as in hollywood movies. Im eagerly waiting though, ...hopefully in my lifetime .

If this ever materializes, I hope Nayakan gets a proper release as what's out currently is the crappy Pyramid DVD which is only in foolscreen.

It won't happen anytime soon. No good source materials available for almost all of the movies. Fixing the sources will cost more than the number of pieces that will eventually get sold unlike Hollywood classics. One has to keep in mind that the Investors are more interested in seeing profits and not on good movie BD releases.

I'd love to see Ayngaran releases Director Shankar films too..besides Maniratnam.
Boys, Indian, Gentlemen, Anniyan (Must), Sivaji (released), Eeram , Mudhalvan, Nayak, Jeans,Kadhalan.

I would like to see more of Tamil & Hindi movies in Blu-ray. The market in Malaysia is slow, but with this releases , people might go for it..

Can you let us know what is on the cards? Reason I ask is as far as I'm aware, some of the titles mentioned in the original post (Agni Nachatatiram, Roja, Bombay, Baasha) have never been released by Ayngaran.

I would like Shankar's Hindustani, with both Tamil/Hindi soundtracks.

and Rajiv Menon's KK!

I may be wrong in that case - I was going by the fact that I hadn't seen either of these DVDs, and they don't seem to be for sale at the Ayngaran EShop.

My mistake then - the DVDs don't seem to be listed under the A-Z DVD listing or when I search for them! Anyway, getting back on topic, would be good if they released BDs of these films. I'd love to see a BD of Agni Nachatatiram and Mouna Ragam as well, but don't think these will come out any time soon.

Imagine that - releasing blu-rays of films from India's most respectable directors? Wouldn't that be something if that happened!
