I don't have experience with the C1, but that's a 720p model. At 50" I really think you should consider a 1080p screen. What is your budget?

If you can, how about the S1 model? That one is 1080p, and is the first one in the series with 1080 lines of moving resolution.
I had the S1, and while it has a few disadvantages over LCD, the advantages are WAY greater. The S1 is great for watching movies, as the contrast gives movies a pop that LCDs can't. Games are also great, as the clarity with motion, while keeping no input lag, is leap and bounds above any LCD out there. Just don't plan to use it as a monitor unless you are willing to accept a few negative things, which mainly come from the noise produced by dither.

found one cheap, i'm with you on the 1080, but ive read alot that 720 v 1080 at 12 feet or so. where id view from, there was no visible difference. i watch movies and game. so overall is a plasma still better for me?

Well when you choose a TV you need to consider this:

- Do you watch it in a dark room or a one with light

He watches here:

No issues with direct light that I can tell. Plasma, FTW.

It really depends on your budget.. I would highly recommend Plasma over LCD. The picture quality for movies and gaming is amazing. And if you are gonna get a 50" definitely get a 1080p.. The S1 series like the previous person said is a good tv. I have the G10 series and love it. I got mine for $1000 because it was a display model. And to my luck it only had 2200 hours on it.

I helped my mom pick out a 50" c1. She got it for 700 and at that price WOW., it's a great deal. I have a g-15 and honestly would probably only notice a difference in a side by side comparison of a blu-Ray at a fairly close distance. Depending on the price I'd say it's a solid tv.

If you can get it for 600 I'd say it's a no brainer.
