For what it's worth I think it could be the PS3 on the 30th after all. Then Panny's A30.

Only two days to go before we find out.

An interesting set of stats here from all and sundry showing how the Nielsen data supports sales of 115,000...

...butthen forgetting Nielsen don't count Wal-Mart who have 40% of DVD sales...

...which, if you do the maths, works out at just over 190,000.

What a coincidence!

Sadly it appears to show that, not only do Nielsen not count Wal-Mart, according to HMM Wal-Mart's 40% don't even exist.

I presume the $198 HD-A2s at Wal-Mart don't count either.

I hear lots of talk about Nielsen been an industry standard. Well, all media has its own little quirks. When discs are bought, they'll be bought by a sligfhtly different demographic with slightly different shopping patterns. Figuring out how to weight these takes several years of studying that particular media - several years which, to be fair to Nielsen, they haven't had.

I wonder how the stupid HD DVD fanboys on Avforums are reacting to the news that Warner might be Blu Ray exclusive next year. I bet any threads on there are immediately invaded by Pecker, High Def DVD and co and the threads get closed. I might have to register again and start posting.

The 'DVD Players (High Definition)' section of AVF can be a hostile place if you allude to any positives for the Blu-ray format. However, thankfully most of the other sections on the forum still remain a source of good info and debate.

As for Steve W. I think 'Pecker logic' should have its own entry here . Definition: 'Steve W's logic is always valid no matter how flawed it may be; as long as its suits his own agenda'

We should pity him really, anyone who openly advocates his love of 'The Alarm' and lives in Yorkshire has enough crosses to bear IMO.

looks like if im not mistaken, that BDs version of PiP allows for quite a bit of user control, being able to control the audio streams for both decoders. mixing your own audio.

can we say owned.

the bits is confirming PS3 1.1 soon. the pany bargain player thats pretty much fully equiped at a great price. and warner possibly leaning blu, new line with some releases 6 mths before there hddvd release, man, im glad i took off the red tinted glasses when i did.

c'mon guys, you should know now that from tomorrow all current BD players will implode and be worthless crap. the fact that the bda have cunningly called it a name and have in effect created a FEATURE on new BD players makes no odds, 1.1 will break all players and the world will end.

Ok so I just got a weeks ban for this perfectly reasonable comment on the Walmart sale...

"So Walmart is selling off some old stock in 'limited' numbers to employees and existing HD-DVD owners over in America which only benefits one poster and you lot have spent the whole day discussing it? Isnt there ever a time when you just feel the need to take a step back and think about all the time you've wasted? "

Apparently this is trolling however take a look at the mod's comment in the thread...

"zz101 is having a break for a week. If anyone misses his witty comments I suspect you all know which other forum you will probably find him in."

Is it a witch hunt????!!! I've barely posted on here but I'm getting lumped in with the rest of you reprobates.

Looks like he was right tho i see where they were coming from; you were in the HD DUD section and it was a bit of a tease. Trawling through this thread i am a little shocked by it; AVF is a great source of info and i include the Blu-ray forum. I brought my BR player with advice from there and it gets my thumbs up. but i'm not going to convince the posters on this thread so will quit whilst i'm behind.
