for me personally it places behind Up, Wall-e and Nemo.

Got to keep an eye open for those special Amazon sales that they advertise here every now and then.

Back in January I bought BOTH 'Monsters Inc.' and 'UP' for 9.99 each from one of their 2 movie bundle sales that I noticed while reading through one of these many forums.

Now I am waiting for 'Kung Fu Panda' to drop in price.

I really LOVE this site. It has SAVED me so much money.

I saw that deal. However I got Up on release day at TRU for insanely cheap, so I had no need for the combo deal.

Over the years, I've come to realize quite the opposite. I've probably spent more money than I wanted to because of this site. My collection of 350+ would probably only be 100 if I didn't learn about most of the deals listed through members on this site... and that 100 would include the copies that I got free for reviewing purposes!

Why is Monsters, Inc. priced higher than the other Pixar BDs? Because the market will bear it.

/surprised no one else brought this point up...

+1. I'm sure many here remember the crazy awesome deals going on with combined coupons and Monsters Inc./UP on release week. Don't want to rub it in OP but I got Monsters Inc for $0.48 and UP for $0.48 on release day after all coupons. That will be a day long remembered.

The main Disney movie I want is Nightmare Before Christmas. The only places near me that have it are Target and Best Buy and they both want $34.99 for it. I regret not picking it up when I saw it at Wal-Mart for $15...

and the Incredibles for me.. they need to get Finding Nemo and The Incredibles on Blu-ray soon...

if you are a member of or sign up on disneymovierewards.com and you already own the standard Monsters Inc DVD, you can put the upc number in the code section and it gives you a coupon for $8 off the Blu-ray. I don't know if they still are doing this, but they were when it first came out.

Do you know if they do this for other Disney Blu-ray upgrades (I've heard you can mail the UPC's in, but haven't gotten around to it)? I'd like to do it for Pirates of the Caribbean while it's on sale at Best Buy.

as far as I've seen, they only did it with Monsters Inc, they probably realized you could find the UPC without actually owning the DVD and people could get the coupon still and they had to find a way around people doing that. everything I've seen since has been about https://disneyupgradetoblu.com/blu_ray/index.html

POTC? is still on sale...I need the second one.

But on the subject. I regret not picking it up also. I am a diehard fan of pixar movies. The only one i have on BD is UP. Can't wait for TS1 and 2 to be released!

Hmmm,

It is a 4 disc set. I got mine very cheap on release day and lots of others did too. Some people who went to target actually had to buy a water bottle or candy bar so that the Monsters Inc and Up Blu ray sets would ring up for more than $0.00 after combined coupons and such.

I think I got them each for about $14 but I also got $10 for the DVD which I traded in since the Blu Ray came with DVD as well.

Disney movies in particular have coupons and rebates to look out for during release week. The Princess and the Frog has a $10 off coupon now.

Make a habit of watching the "hot deals" forum here and your problem may not be that Blu Rays are so expensive but rather a problem of managing so many great deals.

Same here............I payed $0.48 for Monsters Inc on release week. Hell I paid more in tax then I did for the actual film since they taxed me for ~$20 for whatever reason. Grand total for both films was $3.xx CRAZY deal!

I know where I live I haven't seen this movie anywhere for less than $34.99, even on Amazon.ca it's been $34.99 since it came out I am pretty sure. When it drops to about the $28.99 mark I'll pick it up.

I recently bit the bullet and picked it up for $29.99 at BJ's - the $8 upgrade coupon. Still more than I wanted to pay, but I haven't seen it anywhere cheaper recently.

I spent $38 on my copy because I forgot to respond to a featured title mailing from the Disney Blu-Ray Club

You can find it on eBay for $20 shipped. Brand new, sealed. Just have to wait and be on the lookout.
