Notice in the artical he does not say HD DVD but HD. I think there is a message there. Maybe both formats are coming out with LOTR. I think HD boxset is in reference to High Def. not HD DVD. Maybe I am just getting my hopes up.

There was a time when "hd-dvd' was called AOD but then it appropiated the HD acronym for itself, probably to give the impression that when people refered to anything pertaning High Definition, High Definition disc, or High Definition resolution, they would automatically think it was refereng to their disc format, so if an article mentioned any HD, High Definition video, or High Definition digital videodisc format, people would say: Oh! That must be HD-DVD!

Peter Jackson is all for Microsoft. A good example of this would be the release of King Kong on that format (i know its also universal), and the peter jackson directed halo movie thats in development. I hope those issues dont cause any favoritism between the two formats.

O, man, give me The Lord of the Rings in a BD-50 box set with both extended and theatrical editions, with every version fitting on one disc, hopefully encoded in high-bitrate AVC with DTS-HD MA 6.1 sound, plus HD bonus features, and throw in audio-only BDs of the sound tracks in surround (in place of the DVD-As) in DTS-HD MA or Dolby TrueHD and I'll be in heaven. Am I dreaming?
