Default 2nd Guitar for GHIII

So when I bought GHIII this weekend, I was also going to buy a second guitar so I could jam with a friend, but both Gamestop and Target weren't selling any for the PS3. I tried looking briefly online, but didn't find anything.

Am I just missing it? It would seem like a pretty big oversight to not offer extra guitars for a game that is big on battles and co-op.

I have a wireless guitar for my PS2, but I don't have a controller converter thing. I haven't seen those around either. But I think I'd just rather have another Les Paul guitar.

Apparently a separate guitar without the game will not be available for the PS3 until something like February.

It's pretty stupid....

Also, the new les paul doesn't work with GH2 or GH1...which is probably one of the main reasons I bought GH3.

There are a lot of issues on both the PS3 and 360 games right now, hopefully these will get some attention from the developer.

They don't have enough guitars to go around . That's why the "special old guitar versions" that have been showing up with the red SG and Xplorer at a $10 discount.

I'm sure they'll have a patch for GH1 and 2 soon enough

Wow. Holy retarded. That was super dumb.

Then for Activision's sake, they better have blocked compatibility of the Rock Band guitars on GHIII. I was going to wait and hope they were compatible anyhow, but then my lack of patience got the better of me and I was going to buy a second GHIII guitar just so I could play two players this month.

Man, they lost loads of sales there. Someone dropped the ball big time.

Aren't Sabotage and a few other songs only available in Co-op? And I can't get a second guitar without buying another game? OY!!!! Lame.

From what I been told the PS3 guitar for Rock Band and GH3 are compatible. That is why I got the Rock Band Bundle. I was told that the separate instrument won't be available until Feb/March for either Rock Band or GH3.

Yep, a couple songs are only available through co-op mode...and unfortunately I don't have anybody around with another PS3 and copy of the game...and can't get another guitar...so...hmm...I can't get those songs I guess.

Apparently after testing, the GH3 controller will work with Rock Band, but you can't activate any of the "powers" in the game with it.

As for the reverse "We haven't been able to test the PS3 Rock Band Stratocaster with Guitar Hero 2 or 3 just yet."

Anyone else having troubles connecting an online match (gh3 on ps3)? I cannot connect whatsoever with quick match.. and have connected one time with custom.

Also, I have guitar hero II on both ps2 and 360, plus the gh3 demo on 360 and have never had to "calibrate".
With gh3 on ps3 it is way out of whack unless i set calibration to like 77ms.

and one last thing.. i swear it dropped signal on me about eight times in a 2-3 hour block of playing. holding those long notes just dropping off like i let go of the note - and i didn't.

There were more than a few times where it seemed like the calibration was off, and I've never had to adjust it for the PS2 games. I went into the calibration area, and after doing the test it set it to 0. LOL. Sometimes it still seems off and sometimes it seems okay.

I know I had major issues on the ZZ Top song.

I haven't tried connecting online yet.

why didn't they just use blue-tooth for the PS3 version? was there really that much more cost involved to cater to the PS3?

I think what I'm going to do is just keep the guitar from the second GHIII bundle that's coming today (see Sears.com debacle) and then return the unopened game to Gamestop for $30 credit toward Rock Band.

Assuming the Les Paul wireless guitars end up selling for $60 this only puts me out $10 overall and I have a second guitar now.

I was just going to shadily return the entire bundle from Sears.com to the place I got the my bundle from on Sunday. LOL. But this works out much better.

I've gotten into 4 matches (pro face off), but that's with trying like 20 times.

Anyone else pumped about Rock Band? I took back my GH I and II with 2 guitars and a few other games and I got an additional 30% towards Rock Band at Game Stop. I got over $115 dollars towards it just trading in my stuff...pretty cool.

I'm very excited about Rock Band. Far more so than GHIII. After tonight I'll have $75 toward the game. I'd like to trade in our PS2 and Guitar Hero stuff from that system... but the girlfriend says she wants to hold onto it. LAME. LOL.

But yeah. Rock Band is going to be SWEET!!!!!!

You should convince her that now is the best time to trade in your old GH stuff to get the maximum value. Plus you may never play it again once you get Rock Band.

Convince her I did. After we took a trip to Gamestop and she saw that we can get $50 bucks for our current PS2 gear and have an additional 30% added to that toward Rock Band. Woo Hoo!! Will probably do that sometime this week.

It ruled. With that additional 30% plus my Gamestop membership I got $40 for GHIII, which means, assuming a wireless Les Paul guitar for the PS3 would cost $60... I broke even and have a second guitar now.

My girl and I rocked about half of the Co-op mode tonight. Very fun. Sabotage and Suck My Kiss were very fun.

For those who want to play Sabotage and Suck My Kiss (and the other co-op songs), here's a link with unlocking the songs.
