Default Which AC/DC Blu-ray should I get?

Hi everyone!

I am sorry if there is a thread like this already, but I need a quick reply.

Both 'No Bull' and 'Live at Donington' AC\DC Blu-rays are currently on Sale

at a store near me (€9.99 each), so I would like to know

which BD you think is better PQ and SQ wise??

I rented Live at Donington once, and the PQ was really bad IMO.

As I understand it LAD was filmed on 35mm, but No Bull on Super 16mm, so LAD should theoretically look better, but is that the case?

I saw No Bull on DVD once, but don't remember it well at all.

Can you tell me which concert I should get and why?

Thanks for the input!

Neither of them look great but they both look far better than on DVD. Live at Donington might have the edge PQ wise and it is, IMO a better performance. LAD is from The Razor's Edge tour period and No Bull: The Director's Cut is from the Ballbreaker tour. Again in my opinion, Ballbreaker was a weaker album than The Razor's Edge, but nonetheless, the Plaza del Toros is a beautiful arena, and the catalog set is more varied than on Live at Donington with several tunes that don't get heavy FM rotation.

Both Discs have LPCM 5.1 audio, LAD has LPCM 2.0 and NB: TDC has TrueHD 5.1 as well, they both sound great, which is really more of the point in an older concert BD, especially when the PQ is not remastered.

OMD! So, I should probably only get it for AQ, because I thought LAD looked terrible.

No Bull is 96khz\24bit, while LAD is only 96khz\16bit.
I think LAD is legendary. It came out when I was a huge AC\DC fan.
Maybe I am just going to get both.

While I like Brian Johnson's singing I've always felt that Bon Scott was the best. So for me I would rather see a AC/DC with more early footage.

I also prefer Bon Scott to Brian Johnson by a long shot.

Was the Let There Be Rock concert video ever released on DVD?

I loved that video, and would get it on BD in a heartbeat!

Buy them both. AC/DC is a must have on Blu-ray. They both sound great, and if you're not bothered with grain you'll enjoy the picture quality as well.

Donnington!

Great show!

It seems like I have read that the NO Bull release is edited sort of badly. I could be wrong about that..but seems like I read that somewhere.

Would be great if they could re-release the Family Jewels set in Blu.

No it was never released on DVD, but it's likely the best quality material available for the Bon Scott era, in terms of a possible HD remaster and BD release, as most everything else was shot for TV and is probably not in the greatest shape anymore.

Yes, please do provide a source on this, I hope it's getting a great BD release as well!

Actually, No Bull: The Director's Cut was never rare, it's just that AC/DC.com probably had exclusive U.S. distribution rights for a while. It was always available there in the U.S. and it is now available officially at stores such as Amazon.com.

And just to throw something else out there, I'm sure AC/DC will release a Black Ice concert BD in 2011 once the open air arenas are played and the tour is over.

This is Eddie Trunk providing an update on the Let There Be Rock DVD
http://www.eddietrunk.com/index.cfm?...tm_source=news

I agree that LAD is the better performance and Brian's voice sounds a bit rough on No Bull. Although I would get both if they are cheap and if you like AC/DC. Off the top of my head No Bull has 8 different tracks to LAD so there is decent variety between the two.

AC/DC filmed Black Ice concerts in Argentina while they were there last December. So hopefully this turns out to be a killer BD release.

AC/DC have a CD/DVD package coming out to promote Iron Man 2. No talk of a BD version.

I wish these insider people would specifically mention if a title is coming on Blu-ray or not. I have a sinking feeling that it may be DVD-only.

Live At Donnington was an incredible show. And the AQ on this is unreal.

My neighbors kid was waxing his car and playing his rap music a bit too loud, and I asked him if he could turn it down a notch. He turned it up. I went home and positioned my front speakers in front of my open window. I pulled out LAD and put it in my PS3 and cranked the receiver up. I then left the room and sat in my front yard and listened to some AC/DC.

Today I rented 'No Bull', and was shocked by the PQ!

It's THE new Demo disc for sure!!

NOT!

The beginning is the worst, but they shot this with broken cameras or sth.!

It's partially insanely grainy, frequently terribly soft, and smeary...

The print is in pretty good condition however. Only a few specks

One camera has a greenish line from the top right side down to the bottom.
Another one (the view of the arena from the upper right) is so blurry that you can barely make out anyone.....

Anway, the audio is incredible!

It's mercilessly dynamic and loud, so much even that I got complaints from the neighbors for the 1st time ever!

Long story made short: I picked up LAD afterwards, because it's the classic, and came out right at the time when I was the hugest fan!

I also love the Ballbreaker songs on No Bull, and Phil Rudd behind the drum kit, but LAD is legendary and the PQ is considerably better IMO!

Ballbreaker was the last CD I bought, but the PQ is just too bad for me!

I really hope they will release Let There Be Rock on BD, fully restored and all that Jazz!! Gosh, that would be killer!!!!

Who needs a bloody DVD these days?

That concert was plain genius! Angus needed an oxygen mask towards the end! Bon Scott was very charming!

Please make it happen!

LAD for no other reason than Brian Johnson's vocals on "No Bull" sound pretty bad. As far as the "rarity" of "No Bull" on BD, it was originally released as a Wal-Mart exclusive to coincide w/ the Wal-Mart only release of Black Ice, and is now availabile everywhere (that'll carry it that is).

I'd be interested to learn the specs on Let There Be Rock. While I'd love some Bon in blu, if the source material isn't worth upgrading, a DVD w/ LPCM 2.0 will be sufficient.
