I can't coment on the subs for the US versions , but the HK versions have at least half of the subs in the bottom black bar , yes you may need to pause a time or two ,but on second and third viewings it won't be nesessary (you will watch it many times , it's that good)

Im pretty pissed how Blockbuster split them up into two parts in two separate cases. Dont feel like renting two movies for it!

It's not really Blockbuster's fault since Magnolia released them individually as well.

Reviews are made as soon as we get screeners or discs. This last week we've had 20+ reviews

I've just been waiting to see the reviews for LOTR, Collateral, Sherlock Holmes, and Red Cliif.

Just finished reading it. I am so confused about this release. Half the reviews I've read say the PQ of the set is great, others say not so much. Guess I'll find out April 6th when my amazon pre-order comes in.

i hate how international version part 1 & 2 isn't available in-store at bb (or target or wal-mart for that matter), i would've gladly bought it for $5 more than amazon just so i could watch it right away

Yeah I had to order mine on amazon because it was so under-produced. I hate how retail stores refuse to carry any film that's not a new release. Finding criterion or magnolia release in a retail story is like finding a needle in a haystack. I had to go to three different Best Buys today to find the Yojimbo & Sanjuro box set.

I was soooo tempted to purchase Red Cliff with a 40% percent coupon at Borders, but I have Part II on blu already, and Part I on import DVD, but I ultimately thought I could just rent it from Netflix to see the extras. As for the Yojimbo/Sanjuro box - I hate the fact that my neighborhood Borders hardly has ANY of the Criterion blurays instock - it's so grating.

...which runs 288 minutes total is or is not the most extended version of this particular film?

Is this the version I should buy or which is recommended? Will be a blind buy here.

It's the full version that was originally intended. The US theatrical cut is only 148 minutes long, and that's an edit of BOTH films.

288 is the complete version , there is a 284 minute version that cuts out a few horses falling , as for the 148 min. US version what a sacrilege that must be.
