Default Panasonic bd-60 remembers where I stopped Toy Story

I was watching the Toy Story Bluray disc, stopped the movie and turned off the player to get dinner. 20-30 minutes later I turned it back on, went to scene selection and it came up at the scene I shut it off in. Has anyone else had this happen? I will read the manual to see if that is part of the player or maybe it is the Disc?

I like the player for the most part. I miss the ability to show the time left in the movie and the 10 second skip or go back function of my Sony player though.

Do ps3's have this ability at all? That's one of my biggest annoyances about the ps3, everytime i accidentally go to the XMB screen for the ps3 and then "resume" my movie, it starts all over.

Yes it does. You have to make sure you select Stop from the window (press triangle, select the stop icon, press X). Next time you start the disc, it will restart from the point you stopped it. Even if you remove the disc and play something else.

It must be the newer models. My Sony s-350 won't remember. I also recall a lot of people complaining in the forums of no memory feature. Something to do with the Java software? The owners manual says resume won't work with BD discs. Must be in the latest firmware.

Think it depends on the BD disk--
Disks with Bookmark feature (like Fox and Universal) will have to be bookmarked by hand, while cheap Warner BD's will usually stay at their last stop point.
The fact that you were able to get a Disney to start at the same spot, however, is unusual.

Disney has been using a BD-J based resume feature since Bug's Life. It's cropping up on more and more live action titles as well
