Arrow Y: The Last Man (Leterrier?)

Quote:
Brian K. Vaughn went out with a new spec script called “The Vault” this week.

But what of his masterpiece “Y: The Last Man?”

The film was supposedly set up with Director D.J. Caruso and star Shia LaBeouf but since has moved slowly through development.

Our notorious trusted source 'Pinche Taco' got some new information about the project "Y: The Last Man."

Here is what he has to say:

Hola Chicos, Pinche Taco here with the latest blatherings de nada de los Ninos de Hollywood!

What is the best graphic novel series of the last ten years? If you said anything by Mark Millar you’d be wrong. (horrible reviews for NEMESIS there, Mark). The correct answer would be Y THE LAST MAN. This genius masterwork by artisto Brian Vaughan, who also wrote some of the best LOST episodes, tells the story of one young adult’s journey through a world without men. That’s right- the men all be dead except this one hombre y su monkey. Great reading, great art and great times.

Now the talented David “Los Gatos” Goyer set this up at New Line back like siete freakin’ years ago. Unfortunately he is working with these two managers, Spink and Bender. Take it from the Taco, when managers pretend to “produce” you end up with either a shit movie or no movie at all. So they paid a screenwriter to write a bad draft, then Vaughan wrote a great draft, then another screenwriter wrote some mierda and then boom, coma time.

Now New Line Cinema owns this – they paid almost a million bucks for the rights and more for the unused screenplays. But there is a good cop/weird cop vibe going on como los peliculas at New Line. The Chairman Toby wants to make limp dick movies like Valentine’s Day and He’s Not That Into Your Pants. The President Brenner wants to make Y The Last Man. And like that episode of Star Trek that featured the Riddler, the battle is eternal. Que Triste!

So they last tried to make this film two years ago. Shia “Robot Hand” LaBeouf was gonna play the main guy and El Mayimbe was gonna play the chimp (un chiste). But the forces of Toby prevailed and instead we got Sara Jessica Parker and the Cougars.

Well good news. El Taco can dice EXCLUSIVO that director Louis Leterrier is circling Y THE LAST MAN. Sure, Clash of the Titans looks craptastic and The Incredible Hulk wasn’t incredible but someone is trying to direct the movie which hopefully will give power to Team Brenner to find a good director.

Now some reports last week mentioned Louis for Marvel’s THE AVENGERS but if you read exactamente you would see that it was LOUIS who was pimping himself. See, there’s no one really in charge of Marvel at the moment as they merge with Disney. Everyone knows that Kevin Feige walks funny because he has Avi Arad’s hand up his ass puppeting him and that Avi has been lobbying Disney to give him back control of Marvel- which they don’t want, being sane and all. So no one is making future decisions for the time being. So don’t count on La Francais directore para Los Avengers!

Anything that helps Y happen is a good thing. All of the above is just mi picolo opinion, but of course.

Yo so EL TACO y los quieros a todos!

Looks like this previously designation movie will now be a TV show on FX. Mod's may want to move this to TV section.

Y: The Last Man Adaptation Snags Series Order at FX

FX’s next TV project is brought to you by the letter “Y.”

The cable net has handed a series order to its long-gestating adaptation of Y: The Last Man, based on Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s comic book series.

Initially ordered to pilot last April, the drama — simply titled Y — takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where a cataclysmic event has decimated every male except for one lone human, Yorick. In his travels, Yorick encounters a new world order of women who explore gender, race, class and survival.

Barry Keoghan (Dunkirk) will star as Yorick, with Oscar nominee Diane Lane, Amber Tamblyn (Two and a Half Men), Imogen Poots (Roadies), Lashana Lynch (Still Star-Crossed), Juliana Canfield (Succession) and Marin Ireland (Sneaky Pete) rounding out the ensemble.

Michael Green (American Gods) and Aïda Mashaka Croal (Marvel’s Luke Cage) will serve as co-showrunners and will executive-produce with Nina Jacobson (Pose), Brad Simpson (American Crime Story) and Y: The Last Man co-author Vaughan.

“Y: The Last Man is a towering achievement among graphic novel storytelling and it’s been rewarding to work with this outstanding team,” said Nick Grad, FX’s co-president of original programming. “Michael Green and Aïda Mashaka Croal have partnered with Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson to deliver a stunning new expression of this fascinating and timely story. Melina Matsoukas, who directed the pilot, did an incredible job bringing it to life with Diane Lane and this stellar cast.”

Added Green and Croal: “Brian and Pia’s exploration of a world without men is a favorite for its depth, its humor, its insights and its monkey. Adapted today it offers us a cracked mirror to look at our own very cracked world. We thank them for their trust, we thank FX for their support and we thank the casting gods for letting us work with this incredible group of actors.”

Y is slated for a 2020 premiere, though an exact episode count has yet to be announced.
