Default Amazon Visa extra rewards...

I realize this is not a blu-ray deal but I thought there are others that have an Amazon visa, plus amazon is a sponsor here so...

Anyways look for something in your mail that allows you to get extra points from April 1 to June 30th...

5,000 Bonus points when you spend $5,000 or more
10,000 bonus points when you spend $7,500 or more
15,0000 bonus points when you spend $10,000 or more (basically 1.5% off extra everything you purchase when you hit this $ point)

It's free but you do have to enroll. Just enter the code sent in your mail, which I believe is individualized to each individual account.

Website is www.mychasebonus.com/amazon2

If mods feel this post is inappropriate then feel free to move or delete.

I can't tell you how many free movies I've gotten through my Amazon Rewards Visa. I've had it since I was 19, and I've never checked it but I suppose I have a pretty nice credit rating these days, too.

Was this offer via e-mail or snail mail?

I just follow my account on-line and typically just run the paper copy of the bill through the shredder without opening.

One of the really nice things about the Amazon Visa is you get essentially 3%back for all Amazon purchases. You can swap the points for Amazon GC's or you can just get the cash back.

I prefer the cash since if you charge Amazon purchases with the card again you get another 3%. If you just use the Amazon GC's then you lose the 3% on any purchases you make with the Amazon GC's.

I switched to their paperless option as soon as I got my card. I've had my Amazon Visa for a few months now, and have never gotten a statement in the mail.

I use it for all my purchases, everywhere I can, and then pay the balance in full each month. So far, I've earned enough points to get a $25 Amazon GC every month that I've had the card.

I'll definitely be taking advantage of this latest offer, hope I get it in the mail soon!

It wasn't part of a statement, it was a separate piece of mail. On the front it says, "Get up to 15,000 POINTS. See inside for details."

I've been doing this too. Do you know - when you go to cash in and get a $25 gift card, does it generate a code for use online automatically? The site makes it seem like they are going to physically mail me the gift card, which is kind of a bummer.

They send you a letter by mail with a code on it.

And before anyone gets excited about 5,000 points for $5,000 (whew!), that works out to only a $50 gift card.

Yeah, they mail you the $25 code after about a week and you enter it at checkout. It is a bit annoying. They also don't update your Rewards Points instantly but rather once a month, based on your monthly statement I believe.

While you do get extra points for Amazon purchases, you get points for all your purchases with the credit card, not just stuff you buy on Amazon. As I mentioned, I use it for all my purchases, pay off the balance in full each month (so I don't care how high the APR is, I've never paid them a penny in interest) and rack up lots of Amazon GCs by doing so.

...in addition to the points you'd already get for that $5,000 in purchases. It's a pretty nice bonus, IMO.

Yup, it's once a month, when your statement closes, but in my experience, at least, they're VERY fast about updating the points. I get mine the same day my statement closes. And yeah, it kinda sucks that you have to wait for the code to come in the mail, but they send them out pretty quickly, which is nice.

Yeah if they are sending them out quick then it isn't so bad. I was using the Reward Zone Card from BB.

It seemed like Amazon's card gives you more points for out of store purchases, when compared to Best Buy's card.

I believe BB gave you more points for in-store purchases, when compared to buying at Amazon.com with the Amazon Visa.

But overall it seemed like Amazon's would equal more reward $$...plus I could never understand how BB applied those rewards points, it always seemed like I was missing a lot.

I think paying off the balance on the statement may be the key too, I got in the habit of paying off the current balance (always more than on the statement)..and I think that might have screwed me out of RZ points, because they didn't add up on a statement.

Thanks OP, I don't foresee myself spending $5,000 in the next few months so this probably won't help me but doesn't hurt to be aware.

Honestly, there are plenty of rewards cards which are much better and also offered by Chase. My current rewards card gives me 5 points per dollar on certain things like gas. Not only that, I am not limited to an amazon.com gift card when I redeem. I can redeem directly for a cash statement credit. Since I travel a lot for work right now I'm getting $50-100 back per month.

You don't have to redeem your points for an Amazon GC, they have other options. You can redeem 5,000 points for a $50 check. I always just choose the Amazon GC option because I can redeem at only 2,500 points, and I know I'll use it.

I think the best deal is the airline tickets which is what I am saving for. 25,000 for a round trip in the US(max value $400) or 50,000 to Europe(max value $800). Ya, alotta points but they do add up over time.
