Thumbs up UK blu-ray sales

My first thread - I think I will make it UK-centric

I was browsing through play.com's (which for non-UKers if you don't know, play.com is probably the biggest DVD/CD site in the UK level with amazon, if not bigger for DVD/CD only) most of the BDs seem to be sold out.

Make of that what you will, but just so everybody knows, play.com is a much better site than amazon, much more competitive pricing, better lay out; BD and HD-DVD have their own subsections within DVD unlike amazon.

Play.com rocks.

I have a UK friend trying to get some BDs for me - hoping they will come into stock soon.

I've been using this site to buy BD's. I'm now waiting for Black Hawk Down to come into stock. Service has been good so far and although Region 1 they play on my Sony XL202 Media Centre PC.

Seems reasonable though play.com is cheaper and very very good with their returns policy so I generally stick with them. I don't like amazon - they never deliver on-time.

Beware guys, the loaded247 websites' list of BD movies includes American discs, which won't play on a UK PlayStation3

Play.com have about 48 PAL BD movies available. I'm sure that number will increase between now and March.

Superman Returns, please!

And Spy Game.

I might get them just for fun. I have DTheater copies of these movies and generally do not want to buy them again but to have Universal movies on BD would be priceless

That is a good question.

Releases to date have played on Region A players with no trouble.

I exepect that Gattaca, a Sony title iirc, will be playable like the other Sony titles.

Gangs of New York might be more interesting since I don't know who is releasing it.
