Default Panasonic DMP-BD30 review @ CNET

http://reviews.cnet.com/video-player...ml?tag=bubbl_3

Bummer that it won't internally decode anything but DD/DTS. Also lacks ethernet, which I think should be the standard so that easy firmware updates are available. On the plus, it will pass new audio formats via bitstream, including DTS-MA.

Still - not bad and will hopefully cause the older models to drop in price over the coming weeks/months.

If it has Ethernet, it'll be a Profile 2.0 player (with added memory). That's just too cheap for US$499.

Actually, it's the opposite. If it's a Profile 2.0 player, it'll have Ethernet.... It's ok for Profile 1.1 players to have Ethernet for e.g. firmware updates or DLNA services.

As soon as this is out I'll buy one. i don't see myself running cables into my home theater room just to connect this to the Net. If these companies want to impress me, make it wireless if not don't bother telling me about the feature because i won't use it.

I bought the samsung bd-1400 about two and a half weeks ago and return it. although after i update the firmware via CD and it could do DTS HD, I didn't feel comfortable with the looks.
