A new Japanese blu-ray edition is coming from Geneon-Universal on April 24:

Extras seem to duplicate those found on the US, UK and Austrian BDs. I wonder how the a/v will stack up? I'm also really digging that cover art.

"The Shocking Truth" documentary isnt included in this edition. Makes it a big minus.

You're right, I completely missed that. Definitely a mark against this one. It's a shame because I'll bet a/v quality will be top tier.

I highly doubt G-U would do a specific transfer/remaster when they have the US/UK transfer. Look at the upcoming Japanese Kill Bill releases...

Yeah, they're obviously going to use Don May's HD master. It occurred to me their encode could potentially use a higher bitrate, giving them the 'edge'. That's all.

OoOps! Another (confused) person in other forum linked to that spec page and claimed this coming April 24. I looked at it and saw the '4.24' part at the top and just took it as correct. That's what I get for not double checking. Anyhow, enjoy the "small internet victory"!
