The Dallas Cowboys should be pleased Philadelphia traded quarterback Donovan McNabb to Washington on Sunday night. Keeping McNabb in the NFC East ranks as good news to the Cowboys.

For the last five seasons, the Cowboys have had McNabb's number. In that span, which includes a playoff game last season, McNabb is only 3-7 against the Cowboys with a poor touchdown-interception rate (9-6) and a mediocre quarterback rating of 78.1. McNabb lost all three starts against the Cowboys last season, throwing more interceptions than touchdowns (3-2) and taking 11 sacks.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; McNabb will NOT resign in Washington. He's made it clear that if he can't play for the Eagles then he wants to play for the Vikings. After this season when Brett Favre will for sure be retired and he's a free agent, Brad Childress and the Vikings will welcome McNabb in with open arms.

I don't know, I would agree if McNabb weren't 33 and there was a guarantee there would be football next year. I think he'll sign an extension, with a clause to opt out after season 1 if he buys out the rest of the contract.

The Washington Redskins and Donovan McNabb have begun discussions on a contract extension, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

McNabb, who has one year left on the 12-year, $115 million contract he signed with the Eagles in 2002, was dealt to the Redskins on Sunday in exchange for Washington's second-round pick (37th overall) in this month's NFL draft and either a third- or fourth-round pick next year.

The Redskins have set a noon press conference on Tuesday to introduce McNabb.

McNabb instantly replaced incumbent Jason Campbell as the starting quarterback for a Redskins franchise that has won just one playoff game since 1999.
