its just point blank and blunt to the point..HD DVD is selling their players at such a low price but the Movies priced at $30.00+ per movie. that tells the consumer yes i can buy a player but the movies are priced more expensive...now look at Blu-Ray..the price of the Player is more expensive but the movies are cheaper in its cost. and that BOGO going into this fall season did more damage to HD DVD than most people who have been keeping up with this So called format war has thought about.

the concept is through a Bogo sale what was the price of Blu-Ray Movies compared to DVD...now look at the sale price of the movies going into the 4th Q: who is going to have the lower costing Disc's to the consumer. content and its cost drives the purchase of a player. not the other way around if the price of the content with just (7) movies = the cost of your player....

obviously not every PS3 owner will buy BD's...but pretty much the majority now...from what I have seen are coming around and buying a BD here and there...
exactly

and the BDA knows this why do you think the Blu-Ray format is in other markets that Standard DVD is in..its about the viability of your format to be able to replace the previous format because its better. in this case its Blu-Ray is better than DVD..unless you make a format that is not being made to replace DVD which is what HD DVD was built for not to replace DVD.
THATS the Point of the BDA HD DVD is not in other markets that Standard DVD is in..if its better than DVD why is it not in those markets that DVD is in.

the problem is not everyone who owns a ps3 owns an HDTV. when they do upgrade to HDTV im sure well see bump in BD sales also.

that is what the BDA is counting on..they are not rushing because the consumer are not rushing right now..thats the point its better to start slow than go right to the finish line..Toshiba is trying to go right to the finish line. when most of your j6p CONSUMERS DO NOT concentrate on HDM right now. because for the most part they simply cannot buy into it until the disc's come down in price. unless the value of the content on the disc outweighs the value they place on other entertainment..look at the cost of a HDM movie right now more than the cost of their DVD counterparts..

but in the case of game software.. a Blu-Ray disc game software is more than twice the cost of a single HDM movie..you may ask whats that got to do with the HDM and "format War" Quite a bit

this is exactly why the playstation 3 is a positive effect on Blu-Ray movies, and why blank Blu-Ray disc's is also a positive effect on Blu-Ray movies.

the more Disc's your format sells the faster you can lower the cost of each disc across the board because more disc's would be bought. because of the fact publisher's need more disc's for their content to be put on the format..it takes time but it does indeed help in offsetting the cost per disc to the consumer in the other markets that the disc format is in.

I don't see that happening anytime soon. Especially since Aladdin didn't even come to DVD until 2 years ago. Disney's vault tends to stay shut for a long time.

A price of $199.99 is just the beginning for...

$159.99...

ANd then...

$99.99...

And then...

Actually if it gets to the $99.99 range there profits must be already in the red. Red? LOL?!?! Funny how Ironic!!!

Red is already in the Red!

Go Blu! LOL!!!

I like the passion, but lets be honest....hes preaching to the choir. Want new folks on board? Lower the prices.

As sad as it is, HD DVD is moving in the right direction.....they may very well be bleeding players, but this is a PIVOTAL time for these formats...and if Warner is watching things closely.....$200 HD DVD players this holiday may have MULTIPLE bad effects for our format.

Its quickly going form "yeah the price difference isnt much considering the package" To, "yeah that HD DVD is really cheap and i want HD for my HD TV, I'll take one with Transformers and 300."

I love the outspoken attitude as of late form the BDA, but my parents and 99.5% of th epeople that need to be won over arent going to be swayed by these comments, it will be the price tag.

Im not going to lie, im a bit worried unless we can get $300 BD players in stores this holiday. If HD DVD gains some more ground there are plenty of 360 owners that could be tapped too with the holidays.......very unstable time indeed.

well while were on the subject who else in the CE electronics field can make HD DVD players and sell them that cheap and make a profit...?

how long can Toshiba keep this UP if the movies stay at $30.00+

do you think the BDA is going to jump right into HD DVD even if Warner Bros. goes exclusive to HD DVD..the longer this format war goes on the cheaper Blu-Ray optical drives get until the price is even with

HD DVD...Disney,FOX,Sony ARE NOT SWITCHING OVER TO HD DVD there is no profit because no other CE companys will touch HD DVD and Make players..because they cannot make any money on the players without the CE companies makeing players. Toshiba CUT OUT THE OTHER ce COMPANIES THAT MADE Toshiba very popular..if you catch my drift
