And, yes, that's crap. Will it ruin your viewing experience to not have this cut? Almost certainly no. But did it ruin your movie viewing experience to get Cast Away or The Usual Suspects with very good transfers but with the studios not even bothering to port over the special features? I had to import Man on Fire because I found out on this site that again a loaded edition in the UK, but for some reason the studio dropped an inferior release for us, the ones who spend the most. I'm not jumping up and down and cursing the gods. I just think more people need to call them out and call the practice crap. Tombstone is going to come out the same way and it sucks they can't bother to give us the HD treatment to the obviously better Vista release. I love these movies so it really bugs me to trade in my SD release for a less than perfect BD release, when it's not really that difficult to do. Sorry if that makes some people consider me as a whiner. Last edited by Veronica Mars; 02-04-2010 at 06:54 AM. |

I just pulled the trigger on the UK region free blu-ray. I VERY much enjoyed this movie and would love to see the longer running time. I believe it's OVER 20 min. longer than the theatrical US BD which is significant. I'll justify this by not buying a BD next week that's all. Very worth it when the US version if obviously the weaker of the two.

Movies are just not getting the same amount of double-dips on Blu-ray as they did with dvd. If you want to see the extended cut on Blu-ray, your best bet is to import the region-free UK import or the French version.

4/5 on the mainpage with 4.5 in video, audio, and movie.
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Walk-...y-Review/2733/ HMV has it for $15 with the trade-in of an old DVD, so... I'm sold. |

I don't want to start anything, but I think the review really should have had a bit more to say about this release not having the extended version when every other release of this on blu-ray had it.
Do I really think with how slow things are that we'll see another version of this anytime soon? Not a chance. I understand that you need to review what you have and not what you don't have, but I do think this matters more. Tombstone is next with no extended/director's version and missing the Vista extras. Ugh, and nowhere to go to bail me out with an import this time. You will love this movie either way, but that doesn't mean it's not a major letdown that studios are making these kinds of choices. They already had the extended cut ready to go. It's almost like they went with the theatrical because they didn't want to give us 2 blu-ray discs in one package like the UK release. |

I just ordered the US version along with The Neverending Story based on the review here and am happy I did. Do I wish they released the extended version yes, but what convinced me was that the reviewer made me believe that this version is much tighter in terms of story and was most likely the director's truer intention.

When I got the DVD, Dec. of 2008, I made SURE it was the 2 disc extended...cost me $ 20.00. Now that I've researched the crap out of the French / UK, and disappointingly the US, I will import !!! It's NOT right that America keeps giving us the theatrical versions of films when there's clearly enough room on a BD for BOTH versions !?!?!? Sad I can't " buy American " to get what I want.

Pulled the trigger on this one ! Amazon Marketplace seller named " Steelbook Shop " had it for $ 26.98, and between their 99% rating and the fact that they're in VA, + expedited shipping, I should be enjoying this before week's end. Also got my $ back from Deep Discount on the Dave Matthews/Tim Reynolds that never showed up !?!?!?
