Default National Treasure 3

ComingSoon had the chance to speak to writers Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro (Prince of Persia, Sorcerer's Apprentice) at San Francisco's WonderCon. They revealed that they are reteaming with producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Jon Turteltaub to pen the script for the third "National Treasure" film.

Back in November, Nicolas Cage was excited to return for another installment. "Oh yeah, I definitely am," he insisted. "I like those movies, because I think they entertain families and give families something to look forward to. And that's always a good thing, you know?"

Regarding story, there are rumors that "National Treasure 3" will go international, sending the Gates family off to Easter Island and beyond in search of Atlantis. More importantly, the pure, clean power source that was supposedly lost forever when this ancient civilization sank beneath the sea. Which - were it to be harnessed today - would immediately put an end to global warming. Not to mention making gas and oil obsolete.

Ha, so those theories in the Page 47 thread about Atlantis were possibly correct!

Nic Cage is broke and could probably make at least $15 million on this film. I'm not surprised he's excited by this movie. I've thought the first two movies were decent and would watch a third.

Loved the first two, hoping the third comes soon. The proposed storyline sounds pretty promising, too, though I'd prefer it to tackle a conspiracy in the realm of American history, like the first two.

I totally agree!

There's still plenty of US history to mine stories from.

I read this info this morning. I agree with you on your statement. I loved the first, didn't mind the second and am more than ready for number three.

I think then the treasure of Cortez may be next, it would certainly be one of the most important finds ever.

I liked the first two. They are good entertainment (which is why I own both Blus). Looking forward to a third but if they go world wide, would it be called "International Treasure"?

Joking of course but doesn't that defeat the purpose of the title? Unless it some how relates back to The United States of America.

There will also at least be a 4th one, REALLY not sure where that one will go, probably find something else in the Presidents' book to investigate.

"I am going to steal the Declaration of Independence."

"I am going to kidnap the President of the United States."

"I am going to end global warming."

Doesn't exactly have the same ring, but I'm down for a third movie.

All I can say is please for the love of all that is holy do not make this film! The second film was an abomination and a performance that was just mailed in by Cage. The first was a good film but they just could not leave it alone.
