Yeah I think Suntory_Times pointed that out on Ezydvd a few weeks ago, can't recall which thread though. Will be interesting to find out what exactly it means by 're-author'.

Re-authoring makes me think there was an issue with the discs and they have produced a new batch without the error. Even if it is a new transfer, which I highly doubt, the negative has source limitations (film stock and location environments) and likely needs restoration to look much better.

Im thinking they just mean the same disc is being released again.Im sure if it was a new transfer it would say remastered

The Japanese press release says it is a BD50, but doesn't list what video codec is used. I assume it is AVC, since predator was already released in Japan as a BD25/MPEG2.

For the old release it's indeed MPEG-2 according to this site (Blog for Japanese releases I often consult):
http://blurayblog.blog79.fc2.com/blog-entry-127.html
With DTS HD MA 5.1 English as well as DTS 5.1 Japanese for the audio

You can see some 1080p screencaps too.

They haven't posted info on the new release yet but might be worth to check often.

A restoration is not likely. A new telecine (remaster?) possible. Recompressing the existing HD master with a better codec than MPEG2, is most probable.
