I had a feeling it would also be out 8/17 since S3 was out 8/18. Same with S5 coming back on September 26th and last years was September 27th.

kinda sad to see lithgow leave. dude was excellent. hope the next season is just as good. best show on TV

I read somewhere that they will tone the 5th season down a bit... To top off John Lithgow seemd like an impossible task, so they're going to take the show back to basic. And that sounds just fine to me! I hate it when every sequel must be bigger and louder than the previous.

Can't wait for season 5!!!

I don't think it'd be possible to top last season and they know that. So like you said, they're going back to basics. But now they're gonna basically dig deeper into Dexter.

Only five more months!!

Anyone who pre-ordered on Amazon, did you get an email from them asking you to confirm that you still want it?

It says something about they need a little more information about it to let me know when they'll send it. Meaning, they need to know when it comes out and everything right? I've never gotten an email from them like that.

While I did not pre-order this, I have received a very similar email. I pre-ordered a different show with no specific release date and after several weeks(or months) it still did not have a release date so they asked if I still wanted it. Hope that is helpful!

It really shouldn't be a big deal to people that haven't seen season 3, wow he had a kid. That really ruins a lot. I saw the previews and everything for season 4 before I ever saw season 3. Didn't change a thing.

Just bumping this thread up in anticipation of the release next month. Just pre-ordered this since it dropped down to 39.99. I CAN'T WAIT to watch this season. It's been almost two years since I watched Season 3 as it aired on Showtime. After watching that season live, I decided the best way to watch these shows (True Blood, Dexter, Breaking Bad....) is to wait for the Blu-ray so I don't have to wait a week between episodes. The bad part about this is I usually finish the series in about a week! Really looking forward to Season 4 and hope that it is better than Season 3, which was the weakest so far for me, but still great television. Bring it on!!

Season 4 is the best since the first season (nothing can top the Ice Truck Killer). You really have a treat ahead of you, and John Lithgow is just amazing!

Yeah, looking forward to Lithgows performance as I think he will fit in well with the cast and was a good choice. I didn't really care for Jimmy Smits' character much in Season 3 and think that is why it is the least satisfying for me.

I still feel that $40 for 12 episodes (even though Season 4 was bloody amazing), is still quite hefty. I'll wait until a price drop.

i've heard nothing but phenomenal things about season 4, and i've seen (not read, but heard and seen) articles about like, 5 new cast members joining for season 5. so i'm thinking, "what in the world is happening in season 4?! i gotta know now!"

and relieved to hear season 4 is so good after the lackluster season 3, which in my opinion felt like the series was already (no!

) running out of steam.

season 1: 5/5, season 2: 5/5, season 3: 3.5/5

august 17th can't come fast enough.
