Default I beg to ask... is Stallone going through a midlife crisis?

Ok so I recently went to see Saw IV... Awesome movie by the way... However I saw a preview for Rambo. I think the idea behind this is just retarded. Seems to me like stallone just can't let go. Rocky and Rambo were both good series, but seriously when your 61 years old do you really need to reprise these rolls. I'll give some credit that Rocky Balboa wasn't horrible but I don't think it gave the series any justice it didn't already have. Now to go on in do the Rambo thing... Seriously I mean COME ON!!!! He's stretching I have respected him and enjoyed many of his previous rolls... Maybe we will get fortunate and get a boxed set for Blu. That seems to be the only good I could see from it.

Looks awesome to me. Can't wait. Rocky Balboa was great. Rambo looks even better in some ways.

I do believe from what Sly has said on Aint-It-Cool that this is his way of saying good-bye to these characters. And I must applaud his efforts. Rocky was a really good movie, and I thought a great way to say, "good-bye" to that character. If Rambo is anywhere near as good, then kudos to Sly and, "Yay" to the fans of this great character.

The fourth Rambo can be a nice sendoff to the series. More of a welcome return to the introspective sadness of the warrior forced to fight in First Blood, and less the propaganda tools of the second and third one.

And at least he won't be aiding the Taliban in this one...

I thought Rocky Balboa was pretty good, perhaps I had no expectations and that's why. Regardless, it was a good view.

I flew that boy around a few times down in Florida (him and Bridget) when they were filming movies together. That was a long time ago.

there was a story on this movie last night on headline news I believe, and I noticed that part of movie will take place in Mynanmar (Burma). In light of the recent upheaval in that country, I was wondering if this new Rambo movie will be related to the recent uprisings? Or is this just coincidence?

It's hard to believe that "First Blood" was released about 25 years ago and that Stanlone is still doing these pictures. Stalone is what, 61 years old?

I saw the preview for "Rambo" this weekend when I went to see "American Gangster". At first, I just laughed to myself. But after the recent relative success of "Rocky Balboa", I started thinking that maybe this movie has a chance.

Unlike "Rocky" though, where the recent movie had a personal connection with Stalone's life, "Rambo" looks more like a formula effort.

Actually, fan-fakey "Rambo vs. the Taliban!" movie-rumor baloney was sliced up and tossed around on 9/12--
Stallone claimed then that he had no real intention of doing one, but...one "Rocky Balboa" and five or six years of "Never throw away a title" later...

(At least now, it's a nice, safe Myanmar, with nice, clear bipartisan bad guys that nobody pays attention to, and which conflict will probably still be around by the time the movie comes out, unlike "Rambo III"'s bad timing with the Russia-Afghanistan war.)

I liked the new Rocky, so I'll check out the new Rambo.

I figure, why not? They are his movies, and if he wants to bring tback the character, go for it. If its bad, then i just chalk it up to another bad movie. I see lots of them, so one more wont kill me.

Honestly, I've never liked the Rambo flicks

But I'm going

Why?

Because it looks like a low-budget 80s bloody R-rated action movie, and I miss those.

And it's got Julie "Darla" Benz in it.

I just thought about the title of the thread. At 60, Stallone is well passed the point of a mid-life crisis. He seems intent on giving these characters a proper send off. Rocky V and Rambo III were not good movies.
