A movie with a doll that I have been trying to find for years

In 1988 or 1989 when I was in the 6th grade I remembered watching part of a movie in a classroom. I can't remember but I guess I got pulled out of class for something, because I did not see the whole movie.

I don't remember the name of the movie. I will tell you what I remember from the movie. The boy had lost his father and lived with his mom. I think people thought the father was dead. In one scene in his classroom other children made fun of him and the teacher get mad at them for making fun of him. The teacher later talked to the child's mom. Later the mom ask her son about what happend at School and the boy said something like they were jerks.

Also in the movie at night I think when the boy was in this room this doll (this doll scared me) started talking to the boy. From what I remember the doll shows the boy some video and at first I think you see and hear something in the video talk about evil dolls. Then the doll was telling the boy something about how you think you have been talking to your father but you are really talking to this man and he wants to destroy you. From what I remember I think the doll used some kind of power to make knifes in the kitchen move to kill his mom and the boy screamed something like "No". When the mom came to the room she said something about how if everything was allright and I think the boy looked at the doll and said something like how everything was fine.

Anyways does anyone remember seeing this movie and if so what is the name of this movie? I have been wanting to see the rest of this movie for years because I am curious what happend. It's not Child's Play or any of the Chucky movies. The doll in this movie is not Chucky.

I'm guessing since it was being shown to a classroom full of kids, it wasn't some intense horror film. Probably an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark, or something like it. I'd say Goosebumps, but I don't think that was around back then.

That's right. Making Contact is the dubbed version released in the US. Always meant to watch the undubbed one, now I'll have to find it.
