Default Just got my PS3

as a note i am hardly tech savvy..so please dont be too harsh :-P

I bought my PS3 yesterday and I forgot to buy the composite or HDMI cables, whichever ones i need...or both lol :-P so if you guys want to suggest something on that..please do.

Right now my PS3 is running on the standard R-Y-W cables and when i put in Super Man Returns I am having a hard time seeing a difference in Blu-Ray and regular dvd.

Last thing I noticed was that I have a 37" Vaio LCD HDTV and when I put in the movie it seems the movie is playing really small on my TV...for reference i have included a picture..

thanks for answering my newbie questions

you are educating a young mind into the world of technology haha

Once you hook it up via hdmi, make sure you change the display settings on your ps3 to 720p or 1080p if your tv supports it.

ah ok lol probably wouldnt have.

also on the back of my tv it shows an HDMI hook up and a white hook up and a red hook up. where do i plug those in with? the reg cables that i currently have there?

also I know this is a bit off topic.. but i see a 6 ft HDMI cable on amazon.com for 86 cent, do you think its legit? i know its not ebay, but you can never be to sure

Got my RCA brand 6' at wal-mart for $30. Got my first ones at BB, 3' for $60 but they were not long enough. If you want to fly to my house in Arkansas, I'll give them to you. Save ya some money.

If I were you I would return the PS3 and get an Xbox 360 instead. More people have it and the online gaming is so much better. A lot of the games on Xbox 360 are smooth and also have 1080P HD, a lot of PS3 games are sloppy and the characters are jerky. PS3 has better technology such as Bluetooth, but that is all it has going fo it. To me, it's overrated and overpriced. More people have an Xbox 360 and you can play with more people than you can on PS3. Just FYI from someone who owns both systems.

i prefer the ps3 sure theyre still building up a library but the graphics are really amazing after you hook up your HDMI.
I trading my 360 for the ps3, and never looked back, anyways the real good games for 360 come out on the pc anyways (lost planet, bioshock, halo, gears of war etc etc etc)

Yes I agree, most of the games have amazing graphics. But I was really disappointed in Madden 08 as the players are jerky and not as fast moving compared to the Madden 08 on 360. If PS3 wasn't $600 when it first came out, they would have gotten a big share of the U.S. market, but that was Sony's mistake for being to high priced with the way the econmy is here, especially in Michigan were I live. The game developers have to do a better job taking advantage of the Bl-Ray capacity can capabilities and have yet to do so.

As far as a HDMI cable goes, which you do need for 1080p I would recommend this one http://www.xtrememac.com/audio/av_cables/hdmi/index.php you can also get it at any Apple store. It is great quality and if you should have any problems it is an easy exchange.
