Default CD players...

My 14 year old Pioneer CD player died and I need a new one...

Problem is there are not a lot left on the market it seems?
I do not want a changer, just a single disc player.
Also not willing to shell out more than $200 - $250 for a high end one.

Any suggestions?
I was looking at some Sony models, lots didn't get that great of reviews though...

Are you willing to buy used ? My Pioneer from the early nineties died not too long ago and I found a similar but newer model for 20 bucks on a local online classified add. People are giving them away for nothing.

Already checked both Ebay and Amazon. That's where I came across the not so great reviews.

I would prefer new... but like I said there are not a lot of options out there.
Sucks, as I have a ton (2,000+) CDs

http://www.craigslist.org

You probably won't be able to get a brand new one, but you can probably get a really good deal on a used one that works.

What am I missing here? Don't BD players also play CDs? I've never tried on mine, but I know my old DVD players did.

I say upgrade to an iPod. Ya, it'll take a lot of work to upload all those cd's. I know, I've done the same thing. In the end, it's worth it. Having them backed up on an external hard drive gives me peace of mind about not ever losing all of it. And it something does get lost I still have the CD's as back up.

Obviously, that doesn't help you and with the CD player situation, but just a thought. I've had to deal with the same thing.

Ipod the only way to go.I have a 160gb it has ALL my music on it.Hook it up with a RCA cord thru the headphone jack. Then goes into the car when traveling. One CD at a time is just CRAZY TODAY!

Unles of course yuou car about quality and thus need the music in lossless, which 160gb is not nearly enough for his cd collection in lossless.

I'd recommend a cambridge audio 340c.

Thanks for the replies.

I have backed up a bunch of my CDs already (380GB so far - lossless) and not even half way there...
Planning on doing the rest whenever I have time (or more - when I feel like doing it).

My CD player died about 3 months ago and I thought - what the heck I don't need a new one, just use the Ipod or DVD player which are both hooked up to my stereo set up. But now I really do miss just having a CD player.
To use the DVD player I always need to turn on the tv and go through the menu .. same with the PS3. And like I said I don't have it all on the Ipod, plus sometimes I just like to pick out a good CD and look through the booklet while listening to it.

Just can't believe there are only very few good ones out there!
I am getting old...

I agree, just upload all your cds to itunes and use an ipod with alot of memory. It will take like 5+ hours, but just back it all up and your ready to go. Then you don't have to worry about changing the cd. Just keep your cd's for back up. But if you don't want to do all of that, then ebay is probably the best way to buy a cd player, new and used. They are taking alot of cd players off the market. I noticed that.

Is there a way to use a remote control to change between albums with the iPod?

I have this HTiB Onkyo HT-S7200

It came with a dock, but I rarely used it and cannot seem to find the manual right now
