Default Which is your favorite Hollywood studio?

Of all the Hollywood movie studios which one is your favorite and which one happens to release the movies that get your attention the most? Me personally, I think Warner Bros consistently puts out the most big blockbusters every year with Batman, Watchmen, Lord Of The Rings etc. Each one of those studios below releases one super big blockbuster atleast once a year but I see Warner Bros doing it more often on a consistent basis.

I've seen many reports on which studios make the most money each year, it's usually in the order below. Disney is able to make so much money on it's Pixar films.

1.) Disney/Pixar/Touchstone/Miramax
2.) Time Warner/Warner Bros/New Line Cinema
3.) Sony/Columbia
4.) 20th Century Fox
5.) Paramount
6.) Universal

I know they are no longer in business but I still would say MGM, only due to sheer volume they put out during the days of the studio system. They boasted that they had more stars then the heavens. And since they were the biggest studio at that time they made more pictures then the other studios. And many of them are good if not great films.

Yes, I will bring a thread back from the dead, because I've been thinking about this very subject.

My favorite's always been Warner Brothers. Granted they may have made some iffy choices lately with the Hobbit and DCU films, I still value the studio for giving us some perennial classics (The Music Man, Bonnie and Clyde, Once Upon a Time in America, Dirty Harry, The Goodfellas), some superb sci-fi films (the Matrix trilogy, all the Mad Max movies, Omega Man, A Clockwork Orange, Contact) and contemporary favorites of mine (Cloud Atlas, Sherlock Holmes, Watchmen, Inception, the Dark Knight trilogy, Dunkirk). And, of course, the entire Harry Potter spiel. Among oodles of other flicks I typically enjoy--from Police Academy to Gremlins.

It seemed to me that the studio gave us some decent innovations over the years--the first talkie (The Jazz Singer), the first "bullet time" effect (The Matrix). They've attracted the talents of Kubrick, Burton, the Coen Bros, the Watchowskis, Snyder, Nolan. A lot of the movies I see with the WB shield usually attracts me because they are movies I don't see being made in other places--movies with real guts. I can't see how things like Beetlejuice, The Matrix, Mad Max: Fury Road, Ace Ventura, etc. could have been made in any other studio. On top of that, I even like the WB logo and how it's had countless variants over the years, often to match the aesthetic of a given movie.

I look at most WB titles and see nothing but creative fun--even the worst of them are entertaining and interesting.

The Wizard of Oz was done by MGM, not WB.

That's what I get for not researching every title properly.

I'm not devoted to any one studio, above the rest...but my current Blu-Ray collection has about 24% WB and 22% Disney entries.

Always loved Universal as growing up they had so many classics like Jaws,E.T. Back to the Future and The Thing to name but a few.

Hard to pick a studio since all of them have great movies. I would say Universal for me but only because I like their logo and theme music the best.

As a horror junkie, I'd be lying if I said anything other than Universal. The Universal monsters will always be the first thing that comes to mind whenever I think of 'classic Hollywood'.

Speaking in more contemporary terms, I find myself partial to 'underdog' studios like Regency and LionsGate.

Warner Bros.

I think they are the only studio that comes close to Disney.

Pretty much this.

I also really liked Disney during their Golden Age and Renaissance eras.

For me it's Warner, they've been consistently good for decades and decades.

Warner (they seem to take more risks than any other studio)
Disney is my least favorite currently.

I just got an original one-sheet poster of The Last Jedi for FREE through the Disney Movie Rewards program. So, Disney for me right now.
