I don't actually know anybody else who watches it, so outside of here I don't have anywhere to discuss it. I am real happy it was able to pickup in the ratings cause there was a few weeks it pretty much could have gone either way. I would think that Ron Howard's name attachment had more to do with it's saving than anything else. But it would certainly be nice if the ratings continued to improve week after week. I would really like to see how Max and Sydney are after a few seasons, and how Amber, Drew and Sarah adapt to their new lives back in the fold. I'm also finding myself really interesting in Crosby/Jabbar and Jasmine's storyline. Which is very surprising cause before the show started I thought Dax would ruin the show. Well 10 episodes down and only 3 more to go. Too bad they didn't pick up a back 9.

That is the exact sentiment I had. My wife and I just started watching it this season and we both really like it! Great ensemble cast, wow

Last nights episode as so busy! Sarah watches Camille prepare to have revenge sex with her art teacher, Amber sleeps with Haddie's ex Steve and then tells her about it, Joel rages against Julia for inviting her scumbag ex-boyfriend Timmmmmmmmm back into their lives to bail out Zeek's real estate disaster, and Zeek comes to recognize just how difficult life with Max is for Adam and Kristina.

Don't forget about the 2bed/1bath that Crosby was shopping for...

I'm curious to see what the backlash is going to be from various family members being at each other's throats. Almost looks like Adam part of the family may have a falling out with the rest of them.

Oh man I know, I'm just worried that everything seems to be falling into place too easily for Crosby now. I hope he gets his family together and things work out, but I got this nagging feeling something bad is coming for him.

You called it, LOL.

I thought tonight's episode was great, probably my favorite episode of the season.

Yeah I felt the same, everybody has such great chemistry. You just feel like every single member of the cast clicks perfectly. This is a family I very much enjoy watching and I look forward to watching them develop over the coming years. Just very sad that next week is already the finale!

As usual, no surprise here just as I enjoyed every episode this season, I really enjoyed the finale and felt it was a great close to what I hope will be one of many chapters in the Braverman family saga. Some big issues where resolved, and a few where left open ended for next season. I was happy to see Haddie and Amber work things out, Crosby leave with Jasmine and Jabbar to try and make his new family work, and especially enjoyed Zeke's horrible singing to win Camille back.

I wonder if next season will pick up right where this left off, possibly developing the surprising baseball talent of Drew, or if it'll be a new school year with several months in between in which Zeke and Camille will have worked most of their biggest issues out, or if it will be time for all new chapters. Either way I am already looking forward to it, and will definitely be back when Team Braverman returns to my tv this fall.

One more thing to note, I noticed as Amber and Haddie where heading back to the car they showed a full scenic shot of the diner that Amber had been at waiting inside, and it was the Halfway Home Cafe, which instantly made me think of the fantastic Ricky Skaggs bluegrass song of the same name. While the song is about several different lost souls who've stopped off in this roadside diner, I think the chorus really fit perfectly into the idea of that scene and the story of Amber and her running away. So here they are folks, enjoy.

I am going home my familys waiting for me I'm going home
I am amazed that they still love me
They forgive me for the bitter seeds I have sown
Heaven knows I have been away too long
So now I am going home.

Just saw the season finale and I really liked it. Happy that they started blaming Steve instead of the girls. I have a feeling that season 2 will start a few months or weeks after the finale and we won't get to see the reaction of Crosby just running off with Jasmin.

Yeah me too, mainly due to the fact that nearly all network tv shows always take place months later. I think only cable shows tend to pick up moments or days after the previous season, because more tends to hang in the balance than on network tv. I would assume it'll be the next school year, however I don't really see how the baseball angle would play out that was started in the final moments with Drew. It would have to wait until the following spring again so maybe that was just a plot filler to get the family together at the end.

'Lost and Found': Where's Amber? Where's the girl?
Quote:
A review of the "Parenthood" season finale coming up just as soon as I watch the hippie...

As with "Lost," there often seems to be a battle between dark and light going on in "Parenthood," as the show goes back and forth between nakedly angry family squabbles and feel-good uplift where everything's all better with a hug and a sweet folk song on the soundtrack(*). Now, in family there's room for both those emotions, sometimes right on top of each other - you can have insane screaming matches with the ones you love and then be smiling and joking minutes later - but it can be a very tricky balance to pull off on a TV show.

For the most part this season, "Parenthood" was able to walk that high-wire, and continued to do so through "Lost and Found." Amber, Haddie, Sarah and Kristina all reconcile with each other, but only after a lot of ugliness. Zeek charms Camille by playing Herman's Hermits on his ukelele, but the final montage doesn't feature any kind of PDAs from them (and they're sitting on opposite ends of the bleachers during Drew's tryout), and there's still the matter of the crippling financial hole Zeek put them in(*). Crosby seems ready to move to New York with Jasmine and Jabarr, but there's still a sense that their new family unit is built on a very unsteady foundation that could collapse at any moment(**). Etc.

(*) So, are we to assume that Zeek was being a cranky and prideful man in dismissing Timmmmm's attempt to play white knight, or that he saw something Julia didn't because of her past history with the guy?

(**) Given the nature of the show and how important it is to have the siblings interacting, I imagine Crosby's time in New York will last about as long as Eric Taylor's assistant coaching job at TMU. We'll just have to see what shape his relationship with Jasmine is in by the time he comes home.

I also like that Jason Katims and company were willing to let some storylines (particularly Adam and Max and anything to do with Julia's family) get back-burnered for the finale so they could really turn up the heat on others like the Amber/Haddie mess. Some of the earlier episodes of the season felt disposable because the show was attempting to service every character and story at once, and so none of them had enough weight. With an ensemble this good, and characters this complicated, the writers should feel secure enough to move the spotlight around, knowing that, for instance, Max will still be great the next time they need him to be.

Also, given all the debate we've had throughout the season about how realistic it is that the extended Braverman family spends that much time together, I had to laugh that our concluding family activity of the season was the clan getting together to watch Drew try out for the baseball team. They didn't go to a game, but a tryout - and, from the way the scene was shot, it looked like they were the only family that did so. At this point, Katims may as well embrace the family's extreme closeness, right?

Great, it's broadcast in HD so I can buy it on the subpar DVD format? Yeah right, guess this is yet another NBC show I will not buy until it is properly released. But thanks for the covert art nonetheless.

Looks like Jabar and Jasmine will become series regulars. I had a feeling they would but now we know for sure.

Hmmm, well that's good news. I had a bad feeling Crosby was gonna lose them both.

Yeah I'm glad they're both coming back for season two, because the whole Crosby/Jabbar/Jasmine storyline is by far my favourite.
