Pioneer just released the VSX-520-K & VSX-820-K Receivers. Even at the entry level, all 2010 pioneer receivers feature HDMI 1.4 (3D), and internal decoding of
high definition audio formats. Pioneer VSX-520-K Pioneer-VSX-520-K THREAD.jpg Pioneer VSX-820-K Pioneer vsx-820-k-640x328 THREAD.jpg Last edited by Blu Titan; 05-16-2010 at 03:08 AM. |

Hey guys, i'm a newbie when it comes to this tech stuff... anyway I just purchased a vsx- 820 along with some budget speakers which are Yamaha NS-SP1800BL 5.1 which i've heard some good things about...
question is the speakers are rated as 6 ohm and i was wondering if they are compatible with my Pioneer vsx 820? any feed back would be much appreciated thanks |

I am also not very familiar with buying new receivers and using my existing speakers. How does the ohms thing work? I saw that my rear receiver is 4ohms and it said something about being between 6-16 ohms for guaranteed speaker impedance. I am confused. Will my speakers not work with this system or something? Thanks!

Now, is there a switch somewhere in your receiver that says: 4/8 Ohm? If yes, select 8 Ohm. If no, you're good to go. ![]() That's it, that simple! * People buying that type of Pioneer receiver don't have Electrostatic type of speakers in the first place, so... ![]() They have speakers that can be usually easily driven by this receiver. And most speakers that are rated at 8 Ohms will most likely dip a little lower at certain frequencies (or not), perhaps 6 or even 4.5 Ohms. But that is normal of all loudspeakers made in the world for the last 2,000 years? ![]() ![]() Very seldom the loudspeakers that are impedance consistent across the entire audio range. Those are usually very expensive and are more the exeption than the norm. >>> Average Impedance of ALL the speakers ever made is 6.8755775 Ohms (It can vary from less than 1 Ohm to over 60 Ohms+). >>> And average Sensitivity of all those speakers is 86.9998785 dB (In-room). Soooooooo, receiver's manufacturers aim for those averages when making their products (receivers), in order to match up with those true average ratings from those speakers.
