I will preface this by saying I have NEVER listened to Jazz in any form.
The other day while in Half Price books my wife asked if I liked Jazz. I told her that I couldn't answer that question truthfully as I have never listened to any. I then told her I would seek guidance from people that have more knowledge on the subject then I do, which brings me here. Can you folks that listen to it maybe recommend some albums for a beginner who is just looking for a starting point? Thanks Bill |

I'm very new to jazz myself, so I can appreciate your perspective! I like the Vince Guaraldi Trio's work (the guy behind the music for the Peanuts TV specials).
Miles Davis' Kind of Blue is another important record. There are various sub-genres in jazz, some of which you may like, some not so much. But I've not investigated them much, so I imagine people like btf1980 (?) will be able to help you a lot more than me here. 'Course, jazz is probably best enjoyed on vinyl! Some of the recent reissues are spectacular... |
