Default Two playstation 3's

Okay so i just took advantage of the $399.00 40gb ps3. I already own a 60gb upgraded to a 120gb (sweet!). I was tired of my son always wanting to play as soon as i got on. So i hooked the 40gb up to my upstairs tv created a new Playstation Network I.D. upgraded the firmware and let him go at it.
Now here lies the problem. I went downstairs turned on the 120gb signed in and it kicked my son out of the upstairs one. so he signed back on and it kicked me out of the network. Does any one know what the problem might be or if you can have two Playstaions running on the same network. I have the 120gb hardwired to my router and the 40gb wireless. Any help would be appreciated.

...I'd just stick around and wait for the firmware update tomorrow. Hopefully that will fix it (I've had some issues with my wireless connection ever since the first time I upgraded my firmware...)

If that doesn't do it, may have to call Sony on that one.

I see no reason why two different PS3s with separate PSN accounts should kick each other off.

Try logging into your router to check to see how each PS3 is connecting...might give you an idea of what's going on.

Can you be more specific how things are setup in terms of the PSN. For example when you say you created a new PSN I.D. did you mean a sub-account under the original master account or a second master account belonging to your son.

Update: just seen you answered the first part..what about the second

And secondly how/what are the user accounts on the PS3 associated with in regards to the PSN accounts.

Need more info. Is it a problem with your home router or with the PS network?

Do you also have computers accessing the Internet via the same router? We have wifi, but the router only accepts four systems. But there are times when we have six systems (five computers and a PS3) and, well, two of those systems get kicked off.

I had the same problem when I tried to login using the same account on two ps3's. Solution, create two different master accounts, not sub accounts

Did you try powering off your router and cable/dsl modem and then powering them back on? some modems and routers will retain IP information for devices and automatically wants to re-assign that device the same IP everytime it re-connects. Powering the unit off (like unplugging it) sometimes removes this stored information.

i do have other computers hooked up to the same router i will try unpluging it when i get home if that doesnt work i dont know what else but i would think that if my router cant handle the multiple systems it would kick me out of one of the other systems as well instead of always the ps3
