Default Clueless newbie questions :-)

Hi, this is my first post. Interesting forum, good luck with it, and I bet that in the next few years this place will become flooded with people!

For now, I have a few questions.

1) What is the popular name name these discs will be going as? What I mean is, 'CD' for example stands for Compact Disc, yet they're not called Compacts, but indeed CDs. So, as for a Blu-Ray (Disc), are they being called Blu-Rays, or will they become known as BDs? "Hey honey, gotta run to the store and get me more BDs" vs "Hey honey, gotta run to the store and get me some more Blu-Rays". Or is it BRDs?
Trivial question, perhaps, but I was just wondering.

2) Same goes for the recorders. Are the called BDRs i.e. Blu-ray Disc recorders (similar to VCR), Blu-Ray recorders (BRR??), BD-burners (a la CD burners), or?? Anybody got a clue about this?

That's all for now. Thanks!
BluRoy

Thanks for the positive feedback

The acronym for the Blu-ray Disc format will be BD, but it's impossible to predict if people will say Blu-ray recorders or BD recorders. If you look at the DVD format the recorders are in general referred to as DVD recorders. However, Blu-ray is quite a catchy and easy to remember name.
