Default Think our releases will beat Shrek 3?

We have CEoTK and the Ocean's movies. I know shrek didnt do very good at the theaters, but a lot of HD_DVD guys might think of this as their pixar release (even though its not). Not gonna sell Transformer numbers of course, but what do you think. Might we have a challenge?

Actually, Shrek 3, despite bad reviews, and most people saying it was the worst of the three, did over $300 million domestically in the US. I believe it actually did slightly better in numbers than Transformers did.

Disney lovers are a clan all of their own, I think their fanaticism will prevail.

Not trying to sound like a total idiot, but since Shrek is not a Disney franchise...what do you mean by that?

Shrek 3 will sell along the line of Spidey maybe less.

While amazon is not the say all of sales, shrek has not done particularly well. I think ratatouille/cars/pixar residual sales + Oceans BLU sales will offset Shrek3 + Oceans HD Sales...

Shrek the turd I heard was absolutely horrible and will do no where near the numbers we currently are doing for our Disney/Pixar Blu exclusives.

I nominate Shrek 3 for having the ugliest cover "art" I've seen on any high definition movie (either Blu-ray or HD-DVD). I wouldn't be proud to have that on display in my home. As a matter of fact, I suspect that the world's worst decorated ***** house would not want to have it seen laying around in its parlor (do they have parlors?).

So based upon that fact all by itself, I don't expect shrek 3 to be a top seller. I didn't see the movie in theater, but haven't heard good things about it.

But wait. Every RED forum that I view has some red ants saying our Disney Pixar cartoons are just cartoons, not worth watching .I will be very interested in seeing what they say about Shrek !

Shrek 3 beat Ratatouille in the theaters on box office take. I'm too lazy to pull up the link though.

The catch for Shrek 3 is that it 'completes a set' for people who have the first two movies. Even if it wasn't the best of the three they may still want to hook up just to have them all.

I think Shrek 3 will sell very well, comparatively; however, I doubt highly it will even come close to Ratatouille on Blu-ray.

Ocean's set is dual release so it's a wash which means Blu-ray goes 2:1 normalcy on it hopefully.

I do wish we had more than CETK to combat it... Maybe another 'sale' will happen to help bolster numbers. Will be some good spidey and rat rollovers still then I hope.

Don't get me wrong, I hope that it doesn't do all that well, but I anticipate it will the only other fairly close week of the year. But at the same time, the Pixar films may have much longer legs than some folks think.

Maybe on DVD, but there was a press release earlier in the year from Dreamworks saying they were expecting the sales of Shrek the 3rd to be less than stellar. Probably because it sucked so bad and with it coming out next week, the HD DVD isn't even breaking the top 100 at Amazon. While Amazon isn't the greatest way to predict sales, it does show trends and right now the HD DVD trend for that doesn't look great. I think residual for Ratatouille will blow it away.

In the long run yes!. I am sure our "cartoon" will beat theirs. BUt talking bragging rights for winning every week. A lot of people or getting Ratatouille(funny how i have to always look how its spelled) this week. Just hoping next week we can also beat them.

Well I for one am going to be getting the four Imax titles and Close Encounters. It's looking more and more like I'm just going to print out movie tickets to give as Christmas gifts this year.

Hey, it's the thought that counts right?

Movie tickets? To watch movies in your home theater?

I may be doing that if my quarterly bonus doesn't come through soon!
