And where's the best place to get this Blu-Ray?
After the new MGM release of the trilogy turned out to be a disappointment as well, I finally want to get the Italian release.

I want to pick up this title from Italy as well. Maybe we could try to get a few people together for a small group buy. The shipping at dvdweb.it is very expensive for one title. Feel free to PM me

Anyone interested is picking up a copy of the Collector's Edition better had get on it. I was going to tell dms23 that for a single copy you're better off trying eBay.it - that's were I got my copy last year, for around 20 euro + 5 euro shipping, as I recall. But, it looks like they're phasing out the collector's edition with book, picture cards, etc., and replacing it with a standard single disc case. LeoneFan's first link below is to the CE, and the second is to the replacement. I searched ebay.com for "Per un Pugno Di Dollari" and came up with this listing, asking $89, claiming "Few copies limited came out from SOMEONE WHO WORKS ON scenography, scenery & set design! LAST 5 COPIES REMAINS! WE SHIP ONLY 15$ REGISTERED PACKET!" I laughed, and went to ebay.it (only international sellers who pay extra for their listings to show up worldwide appear in ebay.com. For imports you're always best to go the ebay site for that country, ebay.it, .de, .fr, etc) On ebay.it, I only found listings for the replacement standard cases.

Found this pic in a google search that shows it all pretty well -

Comes in a cardboard box & slipcover about the size of a standard DVD case; on the right in the pic. A 50 page booklet about the making of the film - it's all in Italian, but has great photos on the set. 8 cards slightly larger than a postcard with replicas of movie posters, and two other pamphlets with pics. This disc is of course the same, but it's the packaging & trinkets that make it the Collector's Edition.

It also has a full set of replica lobby cards that are not shown there.
what is special about the "special" edition is simple--
it is the best foreign issued bd package yet released imo as far as bd quality and physical extras.
a highlight of any bd collection.
another pic- http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/9113/img2608bt9.jpg
this pic is the first press run apparently with a more crimson coloration of the paper.
also: I believe they must have had a second press run of this package, resulting in a much brighter red used for the color of the paper and disc silkscreen of the google image version.

You know it would have A TON of value to me if it was in English but it just isn't that valuable to me for something I can't read. I would have bought it long ago if it was in English. It is a beautiful package but I'm not going to get it unless we put together a group buy here. I think that would be ideal, though, because shipping from Italy for one item is outrageous. The shipping is also FAST. If someone can afford to front, say, 10 copies, complete turnaround with reship would probably be barely over a week.

I will be going to Italy the 20th of June. I'm going to buy myself a copy. If you guys pay me in advance, I can buy some for you too.

I live in Sweden though so the shipping to you guys costs around $6. If you guys are interested, PM me.

Those of you who have ordered from Italy before, how long does it usually take to receive a package. My copy of FOD was shipped a couple of weeks ago but it still hasn't arrived, starting to get a little worried.

I have never ordered from Italy before but when I checked shipping on DVDweb.it the only shipping they offer to the US is expedited. If you ordered from them or somewhere else that is expedited, I would expect it pretty damn quick! If you shipping method didn't give you a cut and dry shipping estimate, you might be waiting awhile. Regardless, I would expect my items shipped to me in the manner advertised, especially if you paid an-arm-and-a-leg for shipping.

I got the Italian red box, and the transfer and sound are fantastic, as good as I've ever seen it.

I've just received my copy of PER UN PUGNO DI DOLLARI today. I ordered from DVDLAND in Italy. This is the Blu-Ray, red case, one disc Special Edition with all the extras (lobby card, booklets, etc.)
It has one problem: I can only watch the movie and the trailer. When I try to play the other EXTRAS, they do not display correctly; I can only see half the screen (horizontally). I guess because they are not REGION FREE.
I paid $44.44 including shipping.
I will post again with comments on quality.
