It's a serious scifi that belongs in any collector's shelves. But it's not a heavy action laden blockbuster that will please most people. I predict that serious movie collectors (how ever many or few there are of us) will find this one irresistible.

Actually, I found this to be one of Bracke's very best reviews so far, regardless of the star grading.

It should be in the collection of any serious Sci Fi buff or Movie lovers. IMHO... of course The pace in the 70 was different that today, this is very realistic look at the alien phenomenon...

I don't really care about the pace as much as making movie that are intelligent. CEotTK is a smart film as is 2001 and that's why both are sci-fi classics that any collector should own.

Sony, Dinsey and Fox are playing a beautiful game of one-upmanship for us. I haven't had this much fun with releases since LaserDisc special edition days.

Hey Josh, does the fold-out thing showing the different edits have a repro. of the orig. one-sheet on the other side?

The insert has the timeline with differences on one side and the original (at least, I think its the original) movie poster on the other.

Another thing I didn't note, because no one will get them except reviewers (I think), is that I got a pair of Aviator sunglasses with a printing of the landing scene glued on the lenses.

I haven't seen this movie in a looong time. And, honestly I hardly remember it. I was a kid when I saw it...

But, I will definitely be purchasing Close Encounters on Blu-Ray on Tuesday and hopefully watching it later that night.

I said nothing because she needs to see it... Well, I downloaded trailer on ps3 few days ago and she said we will be buying it on tuesday.. Got any idea how much it would cost at best buy? I expect 34.99
