Default How many of you are fine with have more than one edition to the same movie?

If it's a movie on Blu-ray,Dvd,LaserDisc,Beta,HD DVD,VHS and so on are you fine with having more than one edition to the same movie?

I myself am fine with having more than one edition to the same movie. Before Blu-ray came out I had different dvd editions of the same movie. Now with Blu-ray I have purchased some titles that I allready have on Dvd. For one thing all of the bonus stuff from the standard Dvd does not always makes it to the Blu-ray so that is one way that it helps having the Dvd. And if the Blu-ray does not come with an extra standard Dvd copy that is another time it helps to allready have the movie on Dvd. Also it's nice to have an extra Dvd and VHS just to have it in my collection.

Also if I have enjoyed a movie for a long time and later I buy the new Blu-ray edition when it comes out. Well I don't feel like I wasted any money on the first edition that I have since I enjoy it on that edition so many times.

With Disney's Platinum editions and Diamond editions I have always purchased the standard Dvd and it's a long tradition. So I still plan to keep my old Snow White Platinum edition from 2001 even though I now have 3 Snow White Diamond edition Blu-rays (I have the Limited Edition Collector Set and the Collector's Book Set and the Best Buy exclusive SteelBook) as well as the 2 disc standard Dvd of Snow White Diamond edition. Also some of my Disney Platinum edition Dvds have been sign by beautiful Disney Princesses I was in DisneyWorld on the day that The Little Mermaid Platinum edition came out. So when I got up I went to the gift shop at AllStar Music and purchased The Little Mermaid on Platinum edition Dvd that day. Also on that day I took the bus to the Magic Kingdom so I could have Ariel sign my new Dvd on that day

Don't see the point in having multiple copies. I'll usually just sell or trade the older one if a new edition comes out. No need to waste the space on my shelf.

What he said, usually keep about 100 or so on my hard drive saves me blind buying movies - generally watch them, then either buy or delete them...

I'll keep multiple editions as long as they're on some kind of disc (DVD or BD), and they have something that differentiates them from one another (more extras, different cuts, etc).

Many of my movies have like one bare-bones BD and a multi-disc DVD with extras.

I don't have an issue with it. I won't double dip for the sake of double dipping, but if there is a benefit (i.e. DVD to BD) I will do it. I also can't be bothered to sell movies, So that means often times when I do double dip I have both, but other times if someone asks for it I will give it to them and HMV here had/has a trade-in a DVD and get 5$ off of a BD so got rid of some DVDs that way as well.

I'm not too happy with studios releasing so many different versions of the same movie but if there's a film I don't mind having multiple copies.. then it's cuz I have some limited edition and don't wanna open it up.
I have 'Cinema Paradiso' limited edition and wanna grab another regular release or bluray release if ever comes out.

I have multi-dipped on the DVD format, and I've done it at least once on the Blu-ray format (with 300). I haven't decided if I'll do the same with Quantum of Solace though.

I double dip on a few movies. I'd have the US version, and then the SteelBook version.

My DVDs (well almost all of them) still look like cr4p, even though i'm using an OPPO BDP80. So i'm thankful for every film i like that gets released on Blu-ray and i'll gladly double dip from the DVD.

I rarely double dip for different versions of Blu-rays though. For maybe 90% of releases, i'm fine with a barebone release or whatever the studios see fit as the "normal" release. I still haven't bought a Blu-ray version of a film i have on HD DVD.

Some cases when i did double dip:

-Bought two versions of REC. The second one for the lossless audio which the spanish release didn't have.
- Then i might get the Deluxe Edition of Ponyo in the UK although i have the french release. Just because i love the film so much.
- Will get the new version of Gangs of New York, but i've already sold the former release.
- Another double dip might be Predator, depending on how much the pq improved.

I have Oldboy on VHS, two different DVDs, and two Blurays. I really didn't plan that it just kind of worked out that way. I upgrade if I know I'm getting an upgrade. Other than that I don't really do anything out of any fan service.

I'll rebuy on Blu my favorite movies that I had on dvd. If the upgrade is just soso I'll keep my dvd(some movies just plain don't need the eye candy to be good. Won't often double-dip for collector's edition, I'm not an extras nut, but will for Steelbooks though, again if it's a movie I really like.

I am unsure of what this means, do you mean that you download them to watch them as a rental or...?
