Default Black Hawk Down

Hey,

I just got this movie and was watching it and realized a minute or two in there was no base. I FF'd to the serious gun fights and still no base from the SW. It is PCM 5.1 Uncompressed. I put in Transformers 2 which is DTS-MA and the base was back. Can't my system accept pcm?

It should switch to DD 5.1 if your receiver cannot pickup LPCM. Im not familiar with your exact receiver but I would think that any receiver that can play DD THD or DTS HD should have the ability to play LPCM tracks. Does your receiver say Multi-PCM or Multi-channel PCM or LPCM or Linear PCM? If should show one of those on the display.

Try setting the movie to DD and see if you get bass. Its been a while since I have watched it, but I am pretty sure there is bass on the sound track

Did you ever consider that Black Hawk Down is better representation of an accurate real life sound design where Transformers 2 is not???

It says PCM Multi HDMI. I clicked on Title Menu on the BD remote to double check my audio settings. Soon as I did that the base kicked on. Serious base when set to PCM in this movie. I put it on DD also and the base was very good.

Thanks alot!

Good point but "Irene" does some serious thumping.

Your dancing banana is base. Bass is too fishy.

Your Onkyo 507 does indeed shows the right stuff, "MultiCh" PCM, excellent!
...It decodes everything out there!

* 'Black Hawk Down' on Blu-ray is one of the VERY BEST multichannel PCM audio soundtrack out there, period!

Not to mention maybe he didn't do this, but you need to select the pcm track in the BHD menu because the disk is an early release.
