When asked for an explanation of the film's title spelling during a news conference at the Cannes Film Festival, Tarantino said, "I'm never going to explain that". When pushed on it, Tarantino would not explain the first u in Inglourious, but said, "The Basterds? That's just the way you say it: Basterds." Tarantino later stated in an interview that the misspelled title is "a Basquiat-esque touch." He further commented on Late Show with David Letterman that Inglourious Basterds is the "Tarantino way of spelling it." Wikpedia
So, any other creative explanations for "The studio was nervous about whether the title would be advertising-censored/red-state-picketed under its legally correct spelling"?

(Or "Afraid of lawsuits from the original producers stemming from any unauthorized implied 'remake' of the '78 if it had used the 'correct' title"?
Which's why he also had to alibi why he forgot to change back the European/Italian U in 'Inglorious'.)

In your opinion, frankly I know I'll loathe it. Tarantino hasn't made one good film yet.

It's more on my queue for my Bro and Dad. Since I couldn't care less about seeing it.

And as other threads have noted, if you're expecting it to be a movie about Brad Pitt's squadron, as in the trailers....surprise!
Q didn't even make THAT movie either.

(Although I've only seen this movie of his and parts of Death Proof, and the "foot fetish" thing is already creepy and annoying... )

Yeah, the trailers are incredibly misleading in regard to what the actual film is about.

It plays like it's gonna be a tongue-in-cheek Nazi Killin' movie. And sadly, it's not.

Which is kinda a shame. I was interested in seeing it from the trailers. Til I read what it was about.

A real pity. QT might have actually managed to make a film I enjoyed for once. Alas.

You're right, I didn't mean to say original, not sure what I was thinking. I still want to see it.

Just finished watching the 'original' streaming on Netflix. While not in HD the PQ was acceptable.

A real Spaghetti War Movie. Supposedly a cult classic. Probably for the 10 naked women in the stream. Now everyone will want to watch it.

I will continue to refer to it as the original due to the similarity in the name and the WWII theme.

I will seek out and watch a Tarantino film whenever I get the chance. Favorites are From Dusk till Dawn. (Salma Hayak's snake dance). The Kill Bill's and Natural Born Killers.

The 'original' title of the 78 movie is: Quel maledetto treno blindato (That Cursed Armored Train)
Inglorious or Inglourious isn't in the title.
