Default F.Y.E & Other Retailers in US selling Canadian BDs?

I have seen several Canadian titles while in FYE and Micro Center, some that I am fairly sure are not available here in the US. Like, Blade, Blade II, Blade: Trinity, From Dusk Til' Dawn, 21 Grams, and some other titles I don't really remember at the moment.

Just wondering if anyone else has seen them?

That's cool that they are carrying them, but what kind of prices are they charging? Is it cheaper (or about the same) as ordering a few of those movies in one order from Amazon.CA and paying for shipping?

In Micro Center they were $12.99 to $14.99

I bought 21 Grams just because I didn't want to wait to have it shipped from amazon.ca

Ya, I noticed this at my FYE too. I remember seeing the Blade films and Rounders. Was really interested in Rounders. I may still get it.

Listen what happened today at FYE....

Was @ FYE last week - had seen the Alliance BDs for $14.99 each - reading the thread here piqued my interest - so went during lunch to pick one or two up.

Lo & behold: FYE is having one of their big "Storewide Sales" - everything at least 20% off.

But being FYE, they remove previous sale prices & rebadge everything with MSRP. The Alliance BDs such as "From Dusk to Dawn" ($14.99 last week) are now on "sale" for $31.99 less 20%. !!!

Besides the Alliance BDs, other titles which were $9.99 last week, ("Speed", "Ultimate Avengers"), were retagged to $19.99 MSRP for the "sale". Even others such as "Trick or Treat" which are $14.99 MSRP everywhere else (and frequently discounted) are in stock at FYE for $35.99.

With "sales" like this, who needs enemies?

I hope their corporate office reads these forums.

FYE is simply out of touch with the market reality. I realize a B&M store can't always be the cheapest, but could they at least try to compete? Even if they were a couple of dollars more, I'd buy from them, but I'm not paying double or triple.

This was woohoo and d'oh...

Alliance in FYE = woohoo
Crazy prices = d'oh!

I too understand brick & mortar can't compete with Amazon at all times... but I prefer to patronize local shops when they aren't insane with the prices.

But some stores like FYE and Borders don't even compete with other local stores like Best Buy, Target, or Wal-Mart...

There is no U.S. version of Running Scared on BD. There are only two versions, the Canadian BD from Alliance, and a region-free German BD by another distributor.

Here is a thread on the Blu-ray:

I would love to rag on FYE like everyone else, but I've gotten so many great deals from them I can't complain, you just have to be patient. They will surprise you with some great deals on stuff. I recently got:

House Of The Devil for $9.99
Dead Snow $9.99
Splinter $9.99

Add in the VIP club discount & those prices can't be beat anywhere!

I have to agree with you there. Some BDs that I have gotten from them I couldn't believe it myself.

I have also seen some good deals from FYE... but they are rare.

I used to shop a lot at Suncoast before they went under, and FYE acquired many of their store locations... but FYE just keeps being too expensive most of the time, and when they do have a deal it is unfortunately after I've already bought it elsewhere

I wish I could share your enthusiasm.

I honestly like our local FYE superstore - their BD selection is unmatched, plus it's fun to shop at a B&M.

However, the VIP thing is ridiculous. One must spend $25 to join. Then one has to spend $250 simply to make the cost of joining "even". Since FYE prices are typically higher, the VIP only brings the pricing near where it should be to begin with.

I did join VIP once. When it expired, I didn't renew. I feel like I should be "rewarded" as a loyal consumer. If they had a loyalty program like many other retailers, or just offered everyday competitive pricing, they would have kept my business.

I have found some BD deals at FYE. And their $9.99 CD program is a winner.

But for the most part, FYE is losing loyal BD & DVD customers because of high prices coupled with this awful VIP program.
