It's Denzel vs. Smith. Two men enter! One man leaves!
2 post apocalyptic epics with 2 of the big-name actors. Which one will survive? I really enjoyed The Book Of Eli. I usually fall into the "Denzel plays the same guy in every movie" category, but I liked him in this. I thought tying the Bible into the story was tastefully done (not overdone) and a different approach to the obligatory post-apocalyptic movie. I loved the ending. Cinematography was wonderful and so was that hook in the main score. I literally 'hate' very few movies, but as more time goes by...the more I cannot stand I Am Legend. It's average....until the Atari-quality mutated people show up, then it's all downhill from that point on. Last edited by Offender_Mullet; 06-02-2010 at 01:17 PM. |

Foggy, while I didn't hate the film, it's just something I could never watch again. Here's what I said about i in another thread:
"If you thought Children Of Men was a "dark" film, then it looks like a Disney movie compared to this. There should be a picture of this movie in the dictionary next to the definition of the word "bleak". It's dark, dreary & hopeless for about 97% of it, which isn't bad.....but I don't have any desire to view it again. Viggo was very solid in this, but I thought the kid was horrible. This seems like one of those book adaptations in which you're better off just sticking to reading the original material." |

Man I absolutely love both films very much and I didnt even want to choose. I have seen both films once each and if I had to choose now I would take I Am Legend by an eyebrow. Both are epic and excellent and two of my favorite actors and probably the two best actors goin in my eyes. Got Em!!

Haven't seen it yet, but I voted for The Road. I Am Legend was decent, Book of Eli was a bit better, mainly due to Oldman stealing the show. From what I've heard, The Road is pretty good so I can't wait to rent that soon

THE ROAD absolutely pisses over any post-apocalyptic contenders. It's hardcore...haven't seen something that gut-wrenching in the genre since THE DAY AFTER.
I can't even take BOOK OF ELI seriously enough to watch it--the book that has been responsible for more death, destruction and conflict than any other in history is the only one with the power to save the human race? Yeah, I'll be over here watching...well, really just about anything else. I mean there's fiction and then there's fick-shun! Last edited by Filmmaker; 06-14-2010 at 02:12 AM. |

lol. Beat "pre-judging a movie before you've seen it" post my friend.
![]() Like I said (and I'm always pretty darn blunt and to-the-point in my short reviews), the use of The Book isn't done in some tacky mushy religious-nut fashion. But hey, to each his own. |
