Worried about the transfer of "Orphan" because of this review

Here he says the UK transfer of the movie is dull and not the best HD

While the US release should have an excellent transfer. Did the UK not get the same great transfer as US. Or is this reviewer talking out of his ass

If you read the US review from here it says:
"While Jeff Cutter's palette is steeped in under-saturated primaries, subdued hazels, and pale skintones"

While the review you provided says:
"This is mainly due its cold palette of greys and the snowy setting"
And grain is confirmed in that review, which sounds good to me. Sounds almost the same to me other than "Detail levels feel washed out".

Of course we can't know for sure unless we do a side by side, but they sound almost the same to me.

Thanks for the link. I can see from the screen shots it might be different and it seems like they have added more grain on the UK release why the heck would they do that

I don't think they've added more grain, because grain is already on the film, it just hasn't been removed by digital tools.

The US review mentions that no traces of DNR, EE or such is nowhere to be found, which should mean grain is also preserved on the US release.

I'm guessing it's the same transfer.
