We will have to correct the studio, however, as Elevation is one of those phantom distributors Amazon.UK likes to use when they are unsure who the producer is. In this case, it should be LionsGate. I will correct our listing in a second as I did not see it earlier.

It is great to see that the UK will finally get a release of this fantastic film.

Nice, I've been waiting forever for a price-drop on the US edition. Hopefully the quality of this release will be equal to the Sony one, as it's much cheaper.

I know several of Lionsgate releases were better than their Sony counterparts, and at only 12 euros shipped, I had to preorder. Thanks for confirming the studio Pro-B

Great to see this is finally getting a release. Terrific film, featuring a marvellous performance from the late Ulrich Muhe.

Really? I don't doubt you, but I own the (admittedly expensive) US release of The Lives of Others and it is top-tier--essentially perfect in terms of A/V quality. The only area I could see Lionsgate improving on is if they somehow had different and/or superior extras...unless you know something most don't...

This one of my favourite films! It is very definitely "reference" quality in every regard, but (more importantly) its about the film itself.

For example, the UK version of I've Loved You For So Long has a 24bit PCM track and higher bitrate transfer. Same goes for the US vs. the UK version of Rambo. Not saying the US version is a slouch, and it certainly is a very good disc, but the Lionsgate version will probably have a slightly better overall presentation. This is of course, pending that the Lionsgate version keeps up with the tradition.

Rambo was Sony in the UK and Lionsgate in the USA though, I thought you were referring to Lionsgate UK discs that are better than Sony USA ones.

Although you seem spot on with Il y a longtemps que je t'aime, and I might ask for that for my birthday--I sometimes do that with blind buy imports, saves on the shipping.

I meant Lionsgate releases in general compared to their Sony counterparts.

I just ordered the US version, but it hasn't shipped yet. Reckon I should cancel my order and wait for the UK release?

If you paid more than £10.99 then yes

Then you won't have the horrible slim case

Note to those in the US who might try importing this, it will most likely be Region B locked as:
A) The US Sony version is A locked
B) The majority of Lionsgate UK's releases are Region B Locked

I like slim cases, I can fit more of them on my shelves.

But the region-locking limits my viewing to the PS3 in my bedroom, so I'll cancel the order and hope the UK release is equally high-quality.

But if the subtitles on the UK release go below the picture, into the black bars, I won't buy it. Fingers crossed...

Couldn't agree more and will certainly be picking this release up.

Have to say and hope i'm not spoiling anything too much by saying so but can't recall too many films that for me just seem to end perfectly etc.
