Default Enemy of the State Picture Issues

Has anyone else seen a problem with Enemy of the State BD where in some scenes the left side is a different shade than the right? It happens mostly in bright scenes in the movie (bright white or explosion scene). I'm playing it back on a PS3 and haven't seen this with my other BluRay movies. Both reviews I read on this movie said it was a great transfer and no mention of this, so maybe I have a bad copy?? Here is some pictures I took of the screen, it's much more obvious when watching the movie though:

No picture issue here (playing it on my PS3). Either you have a bad copy or photo editing software.

Wow, that is odd. What display are you using? Are you connecting the PS3 directly to the display?

Looks like an image enhancement feature on your TV. Maybe somebody accidentally turned it on while you're not operating the TV.

Either way, see if other titles have this effect, just in case you haven't seen them after you've gotten this split screen effect.

my first thoughts was this also. i have a samsung for my bedroom TV and has one of those dynamic image thingymajig. i get that picture when it is on demo, so it shows half the screen with it turn on and the other half off. then again this could be one of those ..... @ bluray post again. if not then disregard my last

That's your problem right there.

Samsung has this fetish about using artificial picture enhancements like that, or DNIE, or the NR chip being left on in their BD player pre firmware and so on that would all lend themselves to less than desireable looking picture quality.

It's not the fault of any of the BD related stuff, I can tell ya that.

thanks for all the responses!

I am using a Sharp Aquos LC45GX6U but am bypassing the TV's video processing completely, I have the PS3 hooked up to a DVDO VP50 and from the VP50 it goes directly to the panel. I have 4 other BluRay discs and do not see this with any of them. I'll try going directly to the panel from the PS3 when I get home tonight.

Well since I am bypassing the TV's processing completely I don't think this is the issue. Also, the VP50 shouldn't theoretically be doing anything but passing through the HDMI signal since the PS3 is at 1080p, no de-interlacing or scaling is necessary. Also wouldn't it have this issue all the time then? It is only in certain scenes (but quite often) and in the exact same areas if I rewind etc...

Then that would probably be the movie. It's the cheapest thing to switch out anyways. Give that a shot and let us know what happens.

ok so I connected the PS3 directly to the panel and the problem was not there, then I put it back through the VP50 and it appears to be gone now...so much for it being the movie. I wonder if the PS3 was overheating or some issue like that, i didn't notice it until later in the movie the first time i watched it and the PS3 does get very hot. I'll leave it playing for a while and see if the problem comes back.

Maybe the VP50 was the problem. Watch it closely.

no the PS3 is out in the middle of the floor far away from everything else. I also have never seen this with the VP50 on any of my other sources. My gut feeling is the PS3 but I guess I won't know unless it happens again and I investigate some more. Well at least I know it's not the movie now.
