Smile Ordered a Sony BDP-N460 from Amazon

I've been thinking of getting a blu-ray player to give my PS3 a rest for a while. Checked Amazon's Lightning Deals and there she was, the Sony BDP-N460 for $129.99. Seemed like a no brainer. I did read a few customer reviews and for the most part this player seems to be the shiznit. The only thing I'm concered about is the Netflix streaming got some bad reviews.

Anyone own this player? How's the overall performance of it? Are there problems with the Netflix streaming?

just fyi, i got the n460 for 109 plus change in the sonystyle outlet in delaware last week (i love tax-free shopping!!!) maybe sony is clearing their stocks of the x60 series as they were all on sale and i got this brand new and not refurbished, and the prices are not reflected on their website.

qualitywise, i really can't complain. the player looks snazzy and there is an option to make this player boot and load discs superfast (with a caveat though), so you don't have to twiddle your thumbs while waiting for your movie to play. as for the lack of an eject button on its remote, i've been using my old s300 remote on it and it works perfectly fine. i think it actually complements the looks of the player, too.

i've been enjoying my moviewatching time with it and if there is one huge advantage it has over the ps3, it's that this wins any quietness contest hands down, by a mile and with one hand tied behind it's back. i haven't done an a/b comparison for pq, though i don't think there really is any need to split hairs, and i don't think i'll be longing for an oppo being that i got this at a quarter of it's price and pretty much most of it's performance. (there is also an official review at hometheatermag.com in case you feel the urge to chek it out). i signed up for the trial netflix offer and have been patiently watching the 85 movies or so i have queued in my streaming list until my free mmovie arrives. i really can not ask for anything more

overall, i am very happy with this player, and would heartily recommend it to anyone interested, especially at the price i got it.

Yeah makes sense since every Sony player does what the N460 was for which is stream. So yes they probably are getting rid of it considering there 570 has the same price tag the N460 had when it came out. Only the 570 has wifi and analog outs.

Thumbs up

Finally hooked up my Sony N460 yesterday. I watched The Dark Knight to test it out, very nice!!! The picture looks as nice as my PS3. Not bad for $129.99! I tried to access Netflix, but I haven't gotten past the registering. I'm gonna try again today.

Didn't see this thread until now, but this was the player I got multiple people as a gift, and they all enjoy it...... Father-in-law uses the Netflix option on it a lot, and loves it...... (it's also his first Blu-ray player, so he doesn't have anything to compare it to) I figured he'd love it, since he used his computer to stream netflix movies.....
